摘要： An intrusion alarm is encased within a housing hung from a doorknob by a conductive strap which makes electrical contact with the doorknob apparatus. A monitoring circuit within the housing is connected to the hanging strap for sensing capacitance changes corresponding to touching of the exterior portion of the doorknob apparatus by a would-be intruder. Alarm means within the housing are activated by the monitoring circuit to generate a local audible alarm or an FM transmission signal sent to a remote receiver or both. A latching circuit maintains the alarm means in an activated state after the capacitance coupled to the doorknob apparatus has been removed, and switch means on the exterior of the housing are provided for resetting the alarm to a non-activated state to permit sensing of a subsequent capacitance change. The alarm further includes means for temporarily disabling the alarm device for a predetermined period of time during which it may be touched without activating an alarm signal. A status indicator is included to provide a flashing signal when the device is actuated and the batteries are supplying power.

摘要： A manifold for use with a hand held pump spray device allowing the spray head to draw simultaneously from two separate reservoirs containing two different fluids such that the spray heads raise a mixture of the two fluids in a predetermined ratio. The manifold includes at least one ball check valve arrangement in the suction line to the chemical concentrate reservoir, the ball check valve being normally biased to a closed position. The check valve presents the pumping of the concentrate when the diluent reservoir is spent and further prevents cross contamination between the fluids in the two reservoirs due to syphoning.

摘要： A reinforcing member is disclosed that will maintain the shape of a product for absorption of human exudate, such as a feminine hygiene pad, diaper or incontinent garment during use. The flexibly stiff reinforcing member will return the pad to its desired shape, even after it has been deformed by movement of the wearer. In one form, the reinforcing member is a flat strip of polyethylene that extends around the periphery of the product. In other embodiments, the resilient reinforcing member may be present only in the periphery of the center or crotch portion of the product. The strength and flexibility required of the reinforcing member will vary depending upon the product stiffness prior to being reinforced and the use for which the product is designed. The reinforcing element is a flexibly stiff, resilient, substantially nonelastic material.

摘要： A method and apparatus are disclosed herein for detecting possibly defectively-sealed bags and for preventing said bags from being filled. A sensor is provided to develop a first signal upon detection of a defect in a line of adhesive on flexible bag-forming material moving past the sensor. The first signal is used to generate an output signal at a time corresponding to the time when the defect-containing portion of the bag-forming material has moved from the sensor into position to be filled with product. Preferably, said filling position is located a plurality of bag lengths downstream from said sensor.

摘要： A system for growing and harvesting perennial, hedge-type, harvestable plants is provided which permits greater utilization of sunlight for photosynthesis, more efficient use of the land, and control of evapotranspiration through wind control. The plants are in rows, running in a substantially east-west direction, and are cut and harvested so that their "sun" surface(s) is not horizontal, but, rather, faces the direction of the sun's rays during the peak growing time of the day throughout the prime growing season of the year. The surface is generally cut to expose a maximum growing surface of the plant to sunlight and in this sense is analogous to solar collectors in solar home or hot water heating systems. The rows of plants are so spaced relative to adjacent rows to permit sunlight to fall on most of the planar surface of the hedge, but such that one row will not cast a dense shadow on a portion of another row. The rows are oriented in a generally east-west direction but specifically, the orientation may be varied to be non-parallel or even perpendicular to the prevailing wind direction in order to preserve water by reducing wind velocity and sheltering the major portion of the transpiring surface. A vehicle is provided for harvesting the upper portions of the plants so that the upper planar surfaces of the portions of the plants remaining after harvesting are at an angle which exposes a maximum surface area of the upper planar surfaces to sunlight during the peak growing time of the day throughout the following growing season.

摘要： A cooking utensil kit includes a large generally circular mixing bowl and a center post. The center post is in the shape of a truncated cone having a height approximately the same as the sides of the bowl and is adapted to serve as a container. A generally hemispherical knob is formed at the center of the base of the mixing bowl and the post has a complementary hemispherical indentation in its base. The post is adapted to be centered in the bowl at the knob so that it may be plunged into batter in the bowl and the bowl may then be used as a pan for preparing ring-shaped foods. The kit also includes a serving dish which also has a knob formed at the center of its base and is adapted to receive and center the post. Either the bowl or dish may serve as the top to the other. A fourth component of the kit is a trivet upon which either the bowl or the dish may be supported or which may be placed in the bowl or dish. The outer rim of the trivet is shaped to complement the inner surface of the bowl and may be elevated within the bowl by rotating it relative to the bowl.

摘要： A trash container having a base and sides, at least a portion of the sides being formed of resilient horizontal pleated material throughout the circumference thereof, and a plunger fitting within the trash container and having a horizontal cross-section conforming to the internal horizontal cross-section of the trash container, the plunger including lips extending about the periphery thereof and shaped and dimensioned to fit over the upper edges of the sides. Alternatively, the top of the container may be used as a plunger. Pressure on the plunger will cause the sides to compress the pleated material, permitting the plunger to be pressed downwardly on the trash and compacting it. In a modification, the sides are rigid and the resilient pleated material is in the top of the container. The pleated or other resilient material has a memory and, so, will return to its original shape after pressure is removed.
