    摘要: A miniature four-way valve, particularly for the control of a pressurized gas, such as air, constructed and arranged so that it can be made in small sizes without excessive expense while being reliable, sturdy and resistive to damage. The valve includes a housing having ports formed therein which accommodate conventional conduits of rather large size, which ports communicate with a central passage containing therein a slidable valve plunger of extremely small size. The inlet port communicates with a chamber disposed in surrounding relationship to the valve plunger, which chamber is defined between a pair of opposed tapered walls having a concave configuration. These walls function as valve seats and coact with a resilient seal ring secured to the valve plunger for creating a sealing engagement similar to a poppet valve. The shifting movement of the plunger, which causes the seal ring to be shifted into sealed engagement with one of the opposed tapered walls, controls the flow of fluid from the inlet port to one of two load ports, and similarly controls the flow of fluid from the two load ports to respective exhaust ports.

    摘要: A valve assembly including a housing having an elongated bore formed therein. Inlet, outlet, and load ports communicate with the bore. A valve is positioned within the bore for controlling flow of a pressure fluid between the ports. A seal ring is mounted on the valve and disposed in sealing engagement with the housing in the vicinity of the inlet port. The seal ring is axially shiftable across the inlet port in response to shifting movement of the valve. The seal ring is mounted in an annular groove which encircles the valve and has an axial width substantially greater than the axial width of the seal ring. The seal ring is shifted axially relative to the groove by the pressure fluid supplied through the inlet port when the valve is shifted between first and second operational positions. A fluid-assisted spring means coacts between the valve and the housing, which spring means includes a spring-confining chamber defined between one end of the valve and the adjacent portion of the housing. A passage extends interiorly of the valve for providing fluid communication between the chamber and the inlet port. The passage terminates in a hole which opens through the bottom of the groove. The seal ring is movable over the hole during shifting of the valve between the first and second operational positions.

    摘要: A double-acting pneumatic cylinder has a housing with a cylindrical chamber therein. A cylindrical piston is supported coaxially in the chamber for movement axially thereof and has a circumferential groove in the outer surface thereof. A pair of spaced, facing annular surfaces and a radially outwardly extending annular rib are provided in the groove, the rib being axially intermediate the annular surfaces. Two passageways in the housing communicate with the chamber on opposite sides of the piston for supplying compressed air to the chamber. A resilient O-ring encircles the piston within the groove and has annular bands of engagement with the chamber and the rib. The O-ring is transversely movable within the groove between two positions having annular bands of engagement with the respective annular surfaces in the groove in response to low air pressure selectively supplied to the chamber through the two passageways. The O-ring deforms elastically in response to a substantial increase in the supplied air pressure so as to increase the contact area and pressure along the annular bands of engagement with the housing chamber and one of the annular surfaces.

    摘要: A throttle valve assembly for controlling flow of air through a passage. A housing is provided having a straight flow passage extending therethrough. The housing also has a bore formed therein in intersecting relationship to the passage. A valve is movably positioned within the bore for adjustably restricting the flow of air through the passage. The valve includes an elastomeric sleeve coaxially aligned with and positioned within the bore and being axially movable therealong into a position wherein the sleeve means extends across the passage. Relatively movable abutments coact with the sleeve when the latter is in said position for resiliently deforming the sleeve into at least partial sealing engagement with the housing for restricting or preventing flow of air through the passage.

    摘要: Safety device for controlling a valve. For application to a valve for controlling fluid flow, there is provided a normally inoperative device which the operator must consciously and deliberately render operative before the valve can be changed from one setting to another. In the illustrated embodiment, a valve activating device is held in inoperative position by suitable resilient means. To render same operative, the operator pushes the operating device against such resilient means into engagement with a desired portion of the valve for effecting the desired operation. As shown, such operating means automatically disengages only in one selected position of the valve, such as the "off" position, but remains engaged while the valve is in the other position, such as the "on" position. It is, however, possible by a simple modification to render same automatically disengageable as the valve attains either position.

    摘要: A four-way poppet valve having a housing provided with a pair of parallel bores, and a pair of valve stems slidably supported within the bores, each valve stem having one or more elastomeric poppets thereon for controlling fluid flow. A supply port communicates with one of the bores, whereby flow therethrough is controlled by the respective shiftable valve stem through intermediate passages to the second bore, which second bore communicates with both the exhaust port and a pair of load ports. The shiftable valve stem in the second bore respectively controls flow between the ports which communicate therewith. The bores, and the valve stems associated therewith, define various chambers which cooperate with the poppets on the respective valve stems for confining therein fluid pressure so that the valve poppets, when in a closed or seated condition, are always urged in the seated direction by the fluid pressure.

    摘要: A fluid control apparatus comprising a manifold and one or more valve assemblies adapted to be mounted on the manifold for controlling the flow of a pressure fluid. The manifold has a pair of main flow passages associated therewith, one being a supply passage and the other being a discharge or exhaust passage. A pair of load ports is provided in the manifold, and a set of openings is formed in one face of the manifold for cooperation with a valve assembly, which openings provide communication between the load ports and the main flow passages through the valve assembly. The openings in the manifold cooperate with further openings in the valve assembly so as to permit the valve assembly to be mounted on the manifold in a selected one of two different positions, in which positions the valve assembly cooperates with the same set of openings in the manifold but results in the valve assembly functioning as a normally open or a normally closed valve. The same set of manifold openings also permits a four-way valve assembly to be mounted on the manifold.
