Abstract:
A transparent sheet material which is suitable for projection on overhead projectors comprises coated onto a support a binder layer containing discrete particles of an organic polymer which has substantially the same refractive index as the binder, the polymer comprising from 0.5 to 30% by weight of the binder. The coating gives a good key for typewritten characters produced by carbon ribbon or ink ribbon typewriters, for writing with e.g. ball-point pen, pencil, water or solvent based ink pens, Indian ink and inked rubber stamps.
Abstract:
Spot colors reproduce high value brand colors to supplement conventional process colors for printed images and packaging A printing press can utilize hi-fidelity process inks with at least three unique colors and black, and spot colors for printing solid brand colors and for printing over other colors to produce wide-gamut, half-toned color reproductions printing logos on a substrate includes (i) printing the spot colors using spot inks, and (u) printing the remainder of the image using a substituted original process ink set. Such method can alternatively include (in) reading the spectral characteristic of the inks, (iv) determining if any color in the image is identified by a color management method from the default process ink set palette, (v) processing the out-of-palette-colors using spot colors and the standard process ink set, and (vi) applying a tone scale value increase (TVI) to the process color sets
Abstract:
Substituted hydroquinone compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 to R.sub.4 are hydrogen or alkyl and Z is an aromatic ring or a group of the formula --X--Y--X--, wherein X is an aromatic ring and Y is an electron withdrawing group, are incorporated as developers into photographic materials. These materials are suitable for activation processings.
Abstract:
A photographic silver halide material is provided which comprises in at least one layer a solid dispersion of at least one water-insoluble methine dye of the formula ##STR1## wherein L and L' each represent an optionally substituted methine group, n is O, 1 or 2, Z represents the atoms necessary to complete an optionally substituted acidic carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring, Y represents the atoms necessary to complete an optionally substituted basic carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring, at least one of the rings Z and Y being substituted by a --COOH group or being substituted by a group which comprises a --COOH group. The solid dispersion of the dye is finely divided in the binder material of said layer, which is normally a filter or anti-halation layer. A marked increase of sharpness of the images obtained from photographic material containing in at least one layer the solid dyestuff dispersion can be observed.
