The corrosion inhibitor component may contain a fatty acid salt, a mixture of an aliphatic phosphate ester and a buffering agent such as boric acid or phosphoric acid, a mixture of a fatty acid salt, aliphatic phosphate ester, and buffering agent, or a mixture of a fatty acid salt and buffering agent. Alkanolamines are preferably used to form the fatty acid salt and/or as the alkaline source. The flushing solutions can be prepared in stable concentrated form and are useful for removing coatings such as paint from substrate surfaces.

A process for removing solids from a water-based flush solution, The process includes: providing dirty flush solution; directing the dirty flush solution to a treatment vessel; adding one or more chemicals to the treatment vessel to form a treated flush solution; separating aggregated paint compounds from the treated flush solution to form a filtered flush solution; and directing the filtered flush solution to spray application equipment. The flush system of the invention includes a treatment vessel, wherein the dirty flush solution is mixed with one or more chemicals to form a treated flush solution; a primary separation unit to remove particles including aggregated paint compounds from the treated flush solution to form a filtered flush solution; and transfer lines to direct the filtered flush solution to spray application equipment. The filtered flush solution contains: 1% to 5% by weight of a water soluble organic solvent; 0.08% to 2% by weight of an alkaline agent selected from an amine or an alkanolamine; 0.2% to 1.5% by weight of polypropylene glycol; 0.3% to 2.5% by weight of alkoxyethanol; and water.

This invention relates to a method for the production of graphene oxide and its use in various applications. The invention provides a method for the preparation of graphene oxide which involves treating a mixture of graphene oxide and impurities with a solution of a base. The impurities in the graphene oxide include oxygen-containing species that are associated with it i.e. bound to the graphene oxide but which are not covalently bonded to the graphene. The graphene oxide of the present invention has improved purity relative to the poorly characterised graphene oxide that is produced by existing methods.

Paint residues may be removed from spraying equipment and the like by flushing with aqueous compositions containing alkoxylated aromatic alcohols wherein the aromatic ring moieties of such alcohols do not bear any alkyl substituent containing more than 4 carbon atoms. Preferably, the aqueous compositions also contain an alkanolamine or other base. The alkoxylated aromatic alcohols contain an average of at least about 2 oxyalkylene moieties (preferably, oxyethylene moieties) per molecule.
