摘要: Data such as a musical track is stored as a secure portable track (SPT) which can be bound to one or more players and can be bound to a particular storage medium, restricting playback of the SPT to the specific players and ensuring that playback is only from the original storage medium. The SPT is bound to a player by encrypting data of the SPT using a storage key which is unique to the player, is difficult to change, and is held in strict secrecy by the player. The SPT is bound to a particular storage medium by including data uniquely identifying the storage medium in a tamper-resistant form, e.g., cryptographically signed. The SPT can also be bound to the storage medium by embedding cryptographic logic circuitry, e.g., integrate circuitry, in the packaging of the storage medium. The SPT is bound by encrypting an encryption key using the embedded logic. By using unique cryptographic logic, only that particular storage medium can decrypt the encryption key and, therefore, the data of the SPT encrypted with the encryption key. To allow a user to playback the SPT on a number of players, players can share storage keys with one another. Such key sharing is done in a cryptographically secure manner. Before downloading an SPT to a particular external player, the ability of the external player to enforce restrictions placed upon the SPT is verified.

At a user device, a determination is made as to whether the content license corresponds to particular unencrypted digital content. Use of the particular unencrypted digital content by the computing device is permitted in accordance with the content policy if the content license corresponds to the particular unencrypted digital content. However, use of the particular unencrypted digital content by the computing device based on the content license is prohibited if the content license does not correspond to the particular unencrypted digital content.

摘要: An improved audio-visual circuit is provided that includes a transport packet parsing circuit for receiving a transport data packet stream, a CPU circuit for initializing said integrated circuit and for processing portions of said data packet stream, a ROM circuit for storing data, a RAM circuit for storing data, an audio decoder circuit for decoding audio portions of said data packet stream, a video decoder circuit for decoding video portions of said data packet stream, an NTSC/PAL encoding circuit for encoding video portions of said data packet stream, an OSD coprocessor circuit for processing OSD portions of said data packets, a traffic controller circuit moving portions of said data packet stream between portions of said integrated circuit, an extension bus interface circuit, a P1394 interface circuit, a communication coprocessors circuit, an address bus connected to said circuits, and a data bus connected to said circuits.

摘要: One or more files of an application are obtained and configured as a virtual storage volume. An application package is generated by encrypting, using a key, the one or more files configured as a virtual storage volume. A license generation module generates a license including both a usage policy for the application and the key. A computing device, to run the application, obtains and attempts to authenticate the application package. If the application package is authenticated, then a license associated with the application package is obtained and at least part of the application package is decrypted using the key in the license. A virtual storage volume that includes the application is mounted, and the application is executed in accordance with the usage policy in the license. However, if the application is not authenticated, then the application is not executed.
