    摘要: An image formation apparatus performs calibration to maintain image quality. An adding unit performs addition processing to add an arbitrary type of printing medium different from a printing medium designated in advance as a printing medium usable for the calibration. A storage unit stores characteristic information indicating characteristics of each of a plurality of arbitrary types of printing media added by the adding unit. A determination unit determines an arbitrary type of printing medium relatively approximate to the characteristics of the printing medium designated in advance by comparing the characteristic information of each of the plurality of arbitrary types of printing media with the characteristics of the printing medium designated in advance. A calibration performing unit performs the calibration using the printing medium determined by the determination unit.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus and a control method thereof are provided that determine a final contrast potential taking into consideration not only the relationship between the contrast potential of an electrostatic latent image and the density value of a developed image but also a toner charge amount for developing the electrostatic latent image. To accomplish this, the image forming apparatus of the present invention predicts, in advance, the contrast potential of the electrostatic latent image and the density of the toner image at the contrast potential for a predetermined toner charge amount. Furthermore, the image forming apparatus forms an image by adjusting the relationship between the contrast potential and density measured in advance based on a current toner charge amount and a saturation toner charge amount when forming the image.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus capable of correcting image density promptly. A developing device supplies toner to an electrostatic latent image on a photosensitive drum by development contrast potential to form a toner image. An image density sensor detects the density of a patch image on the photosensitive drum. A toner density sensor detects the toner density of developer in the developing device. The amount of toner supplied for replenishment is adjusted when the detected toner density is above a predetermined upper limit value or below a predetermined lower limit value. Further, when the detected patch image density is above a predetermined upper limit value, toner replenishment control is switched to development contrast control to increase image density. When the detected patch image density is below a predetermined lower limit value, the toner replenishment control is switched to the development contrast control to reduce image density.

A CPU selects a conversion table in association with the image formation condition such as laser power of a semiconductor laser, fixing temperature of a fixing device, or a charge in a developer. A luminance/density converting portion converts luminance data on the measurement image into density data using the conversion table selected by the CPU. The CPU adjusts a contrast potential and a gamma-LUT using this density data.
