A system and method for transmitting a data stream between a server and a user terminal, comprises at least one satellite gateway associated with a satellite router communicating with at least one satellite terminal associated with a terminal router, wherein the terminal router is configured, when it receives a stream request from a user terminal, to search for it in its memory resources and, if appropriate, transmit it to the user terminal, the satellite router is configured to transmit the request to the server, estimate a popularity of the stream and transmit a message of correspondence between the stream and broadcasting parameters then convert the stream into a point-to-multipoint stream adapted to the broadcasting parameters, the terminal router is configured to convert point-to-multipoint streams into point-to-point streams and transmit them to the user terminals.
Abstract:
A method is provided for exchanging data flows between two terminals, via a multipath link formed of a plurality of transmission channels at least one of the channels of which is a unidirectional channel. The method implements two interface modules operating in transmission mode or in reception mode, respectively. In transmission mode, an interface module separates the transmitted data flow into a plurality of secondary data flows and transits them via the plurality of transmission channels. In reception mode, it reassembles the received secondary data flows into a single data flow. The interface modules route the acknowledgement information of the data packets transiting via a unidirectional channel via the return path of a bidirectional channel.

A method and a system for transmitting data in a satellite system comprising at least one satellite, a gateway and a user terminal, comprises at least the following steps: transmitting a data content request Rq sent by a user to the gateway, upon receipt of the content of the request Rq, the gateway sends an order to the satellite so that the satellite transmits the content requested by the user to the user, the user acknowledges receipt of all or of at least a portion of this content to the gateway.

A method for transmitting data between a terminal and a gateway, the data being transported by Ethernet frames comprising an Ethernet header and a payload, which are themselves encapsulated in lower level packets each comprising a header containing a medium access address, comprises the following steps: determining contexts common to frames whose Ethernet headers have identical fields, and defining an identifier of each the context; associating all or some of the frames with the corresponding context identifiers and suppressing the fields from their Ethernet headers; and introducing the context identifier of each frame for which the fields of the Ethernet header have been suppressed from the header of the lower level packet encapsulating it by replacing its medium access address. A method for receiving data transmitted by means of such a method.
