摘要: An original data stream is encoded into a high priority data stream and a low priority data stream. The high priority data stream is encoded so as to permit decoding of the high priority data steam independently of the low priority data stream. The high priority data stream is transmitted twice, while the low priority data claim 25. is transmitted in two portions, but only once. If both the first portion and the second portion of the low priority data stream are received, and at least one complete transmission of the high priority data stream is received, then the two data streams are combined to produce a signal output of high quality. However, if any portions of the low priority data stream is lost then the low priority data stream is not used, and only the high priority data stream is used to produce output. Overall throughput is greater than would be achieved if the original data stream were transmitted with complete redundancy.

摘要: A method or system for supporting a computer systems self repair, including the computer executed steps for booting from a first boot device, and booting from a second boot device in response to a signal indicating a need for repair. While booted from the second boot device the computer system is capable of repairing software on the first boot device. The signal may effect a logical or physical switch. Repairing software may be performed in part by copying, template, backup or archive software from a device other than the first boot device. Repairing software may be performed automatically without direction by a user or according to preset preferences. Computer architecture having special purpose subsystems that provides cyber-terror and virus immunity and protection features.

摘要: A satellite communication terminal system can execute voice communication even if it is placed at a location which is obstructed from a communication satellite by any object and has no telephone line. Further, a satellite communication terminal system for general purpose use and being extendible by using a satellite communication terminal comprises a portable satellite communication terminal for performing the voice communication with any other station through a communication satellite, a connection device and a radio telephone device including a base unit and hand units. The connection device comprises a terminal interface unit interfaced with the satellite communication terminal for controlling the transmission and reception of the satellite communication terminal and a channel control unit connected to the terminal interface unit for performing the channel connection to the radio telephone device. When the hand unit is placed at a location wherein the satellite communication terminal is not obstructed from the communication satellite, the voice communication with the other station can be accomplished through the satellite communication terminal at a location remote from the satellite communication terminal.
