Abstract: A device for separating liquid from a volume flow of a gas-liquid mixture may include a separating element and a deflection arrangement for deflecting the volume flow in a direction of the separating element to precipitate liquid on the separating element and thereby separate the liquid. The deflection arrangement may comprise a flow channel that extends axially away from a volume flow inlet and comprises an aperture area that extends axially on the flow channel. The aperture area may be at least partly covered by a covering means that is movable relative to the aperture area. The covering means may be movable to different extents at two axially-spaced locations to influence a magnitude of a part volume flow of the deflected volume flow flowing out of the flow channel through the aperture area at one axial location differently than at another axial location.

Abstract: An oil separator may be used in a variety of contexts, one of which is for crankcase ventilation of an internal combustion engine. The oil separator may include a hollow member that extends along a longitudinal axis and is configured to receive a gas flow that is charged with oil. The oil separator may also include an oil separation member disposed within the hollow member and against which the gas flow flows. A redirection member may be disposed proximate the oil separation member in the hollow member, wherein the redirection member redirects at least a portion of the gas flow traveling substantially along the longitudinal axis radially outwards so as to impact an inner side of the oil separation member. As a result of an impactor effect from the gas flow striking the oil separation member as well as the inertia of the oil, the oil may remain in and/or pass through the oil separation member.

Abstract: A valve slide may be used with a separator to separate a fluid such as oil out of a fluid-gas mixture. The valve slide may be insertable into the separator and can be impinged on by a flow of the fluid-gas mixture. To reduce the structural space of the separator, the valve slide may comprise a first slide and at least one second slide for closing and opening inlet openings of the separator. The first slide may be coupled to the second slide to permit simultaneous closing or opening of the inlet openings. The first slide may have a cross section through which the flow of the fluid-gas mixture can pass so as to conduct the fluid-gas mixture onwards to the at least one second slide.

Abstract: An oil-separating device for crankcase ventilation of an internal combustion engine may include a hollow member that extends axially in a longitudinal axis and through which a gas flow charged with oil can flow. The gas flow may flow against an oil separation ring disposed within or formed in the hollow member. The hollow member may contain a substantially rotationally symmetrical flow guiding member that has a flow projection located in the longitudinal axis and that has a flow contour that radially increases in a downstream direction so that gas can flow around the flow guiding member and so that the gas flow between the flow contour and the inner side of the hollow member can strike the oil separation ring in an accelerated manner.
