Abstract: A display with a plurality of display elements each composed of an uneven layer having an uneven structure and a multilayer film layer provided on the uneven structure. A pattern formed by convexities can be divided into shape elements each arranged in each of a plurality of virtual rectangles, when viewed from a direction facing the uneven layer, and each of the shape elements arranged in each of the virtual rectangles is inscribed in the rectangle in which the shape element is arranged. The plurality of virtual rectangles each have sides along a first direction and sides along a second direction orthogonal to the first direction, and a length of the side along the first direction is less than or equal to a sub wavelength.

Abstract: A display is provided with a periodic structure that is dielectric and includes a support and a plurality of periodic elements. A plurality of periodic elements is arranged on a reference plane in a two-dimensional lattice form having a sub-wavelength period and are either convexities projected or concavities recessed in the reference plane. A metal layer is disposed on a surface of the periodic structure. The surface corresponds to a plane including a region of the reference plane surrounding the individual periodic elements and surfaces of the periodic elements. The metal layer's profile conforms to a surface profile of the periodic structure. The plurality of periodic elements have an interval therebetween in a first direction in which the plurality of periodic elements are arranged in a two-dimensional lattice form. The interval is different from an interval between the periodic elements in a second direction intersecting the first direction.

Abstract: A color production structure includes an uneven structure layer and a multilayer film layer. The uneven structure layer has an uneven structure on a surface thereof and including a plurality of uneven elements. Abstract: A display element including a layer with a protrusion-recess structure and a multilayer film layer disposed on the protrusion-recess structure and with a surface shape following the protrusion-recess structure. A standard deviation of the length in the extending direction is larger than a standard deviation of the length in the width direction. The display elements include a first display element and a second display element. The extending directions of the first display element and the second display element are different from each other.
