Abstract:
A bicycle hub includes a hub axle, a hub body, a bearing unit and a lock member. The hub axle is configured and arranged to be non-rotatably coupled to the bicycle frame by a mounting shaft. The hub body has a generally cylindrical shape mounted adjacent to an external perimeter of the hub axle. The bearing unit is installed between the hub body and the hub axle at one axial end portion of the bicycle hub so that the hub body freely rotates with respect to the hub axle. The bearing unit includes an outer ring, an inner ring and a plurality of rolling components. The lock member is configured and arranged to retain an axial position of the outer ring of the bearing unit with respect to the hub body by locking the outer ring in one of a plurality of rotational positions.
Abstract:
An assisting apparatus for using power from a rotating member to assist the operation of a bicycle transmission includes a mounting unit; an input transmission member coupled to the mounting unit, wherein the input transmission member moves to at least a neutral position, to an upshift position and to a downshift position; and an output transmission member coupled to the mounting unit, wherein the output transmission member moves to at least a first output position and a second output position. A rotating member engaging member moves between a rotating member engaging position and a rotating member disengaging position, and a motion transmitting mechanism transmits motion from the rotating member engaging member to the output transmission member. A switching mechanism moves the rotating member engaging member to the rotating member engaging position when the input transmission member is in at least one of the upshift position and the downshift position.
Abstract:
A bicycle wheel securing structure is basically provided with a bicycle fork, an adapter and a holding member. The adapter includes a first portion defining a maximum width of the adapter and a second portion extending axially from the first portion with the second portion being disposed in a hole in an axle support portion of the a bicycle fork. The second portion has an axial bore that is at least partially threaded. The holding member is attached to the axle support portion. The holding member is selectively movable between a retaining position to prevent rotation of the adapter with respect to the bicycle fork and a releasing position to permit rotation of the adapter with respect to the bicycle fork. The holding member remains attached to the axle support portion in both of the retaining and releasing positions.

Abstract:
A bicycle disc brake hub is provided with a brake rotor attachment portion having an external surface with an external spline section and an annular internal surface with internal threads, and a locking ring having a center tubular section with external threads and an abutment flange extending outwardly from the center tubular section to form an axially facing retaining surface. The external threads of the center tubular section mates with the internal threads of the brake rotor attachment portion to secure a rotor mounting boss and a brake rotor thereto. In one embodiment, the brake rotor is held between the locking ring and the rotor mounting boss, while in a another embodiment, the brake rotor is riveted to the rotor mounting boss.
Abstract:
A bicycle wheel securing structure includes a bicycle fork, an adapter and a holding member. The bicycle fork has two axle support portions that are spaced apart for receiving a bicycle hub therebetween. The adapter is disposed in an adapter receiving bore in one of the axle support portions. The adapter includes a threaded axle mounting opening. The holding member is operatively coupled between the adapter and the one of the axle support portions with the adapter. The holding member prevents both rotational movement of the adapter with respect to the bicycle fork and axial movement of the adapter with respect to the bicycle fork along an axis of the axle mounting opening when the holding member is in a retaining position. The adapter is rotatable within the adapter receiving bore without moving axially with respect to the bicycle fork when the holding member is in a releasing position.

Abstract:
An apparatus for coupling a bicycle disc brake rotor to a bicycle wheel hub is disclosed. The apparatus includes an adapter and a rotor retaining member. The adapter is adapted to be nonrotatably coupled to the bicycle wheel hub and to be nonrotatably coupled to the disc brake rotor. The adapter includes a plurality of axially extending protruding portions adapted to extend through the disc brake rotor to nonrotatably couple the disc brake rotor to the adapter. At least one of the protruding portions has a groove defined therein. A portion of the rotor retaining member is received in the groove in the protruding portion.
Abstract:
A bicycle hub is provided that comprises a hub axle, a hub body, a bearing and a clearance adjusting member. The bearing includes an outer ring coupled to the hub body, an inner ring coupled to the hub axle, and a plurality of rolling components disposed between the outer ring and the inner ring. The clearance adjusting member is disposed with respect to the outer ring of the bearing such that at least a portion of the clearance adjusting member is disposed axially inwardly of the outer ring. The clearance adjusting member is configured and arranged to prevent a grease inside the bearing to leak toward an axially inward direction of the hub axle with a prescribed radial clearance being maintained between the clearance adjusting member and one of the hub axle and the outer ring of the bearing.
