摘要:
A method for producing an encapsulated toner for heat-and-pressure fixing, which has a heat-fusible core material containing at least a thermoplastic resin and a coloring agent and a shell formed thereon so as to cover the surface of the core material, having the steps of coating the surface of the core material with a hydrophilic shell-forming material to form precursor particles; adding at least a vinyl polymerizable monomer and an initiator for vinyl polymerization to an aqueous suspension of the precursor particles to absorb them into the precursor particles; and then polymerizing the monomer components in the precursor particles. The method of the present invention offers toners which not only have improved storage stability but also are excellent in offset resistance, fixable at a low temperature and are further capable of forming clear images free from background.

The encapsulated toner for heat-and-pressure fixing which includes a heat-fusible core material containing at least a thermoplastic resin and a coloring agent, and a shell formed thereon so as to cover the surface of the core material is produced by a process having the step of carrying out in situ polymerization using a thermoplastic resin as a main component of the shell to form a shell having a structure in which a part of the heat-fusible core material is incorporated therein, the thermoplastic resin having a mechanical loss tangent (tan .delta.) in the range of from 1.0 to 20.0 based on a dynamic viscoelasticity, when measured with a sine stress having an angular frequency of 25 rad/s at a temperature of from 80.degree. to 120.degree. C. By using the encapsulated toner, good offset resistance can be obtained in the resulting toner even when its fixing speed is slow. Also, the core material is likely to be released from the encapsulated toner upon fixing while retaining good blocking resistance and good shocking resistance.

The present invention is directed to an encapsulated toner for heat-and-pressure fixing whose shell contains a copolymer having one or more acid anhydride groups as the main component. The encapsulated toner of the present invention has excellent offset resistance and fixing ability even at a low fixing temperature, and also it is excellent in blocking resistance. Further, since the resin having a negative charge is used as a shell material, clear images free from background contamination can be stably formed for a large number of copying.

The encapsulated toner for heat-and-pressure fixing including a heat-fusible core material containing at least a thermoplastic resin and a coloring agent and a shell comprising a hydrophilic resin formed thereon so as to cover the surface of the core material, wherein the core material contains a silicone oil having a kinematic viscosity of from 10 to 500 cSt at 25.degree. C., and wherein the encapsulated toner is obtainable by in situ polymerization method. Such an encapsulated toner can be produced by in situ polymerization method including the following steps (a)-(c): (a) dissolving an amorphous polyester in a mixture comprising a core material-constituting monomer, a polymerization initiator, a silicone oil, and a coloring agent; (b) dispersing the mixture obtained in step (a) in an aqueous dispersant, and localizing the amorphous polyester on the surface of droplets of a core-constituting material to give a polymerizable composition; and (c) polymerizing the polymerizable composition obtained in step (b) by in situ polymerization method to form a core material, wherein the core material is covered with a shell comprising the amorphous polyester, thereby giving an encapsulated toner.
摘要:
A capsulated toner for heat pressure fixation comprising a heat-meltable core material and an outer shell, said core material containing a colorant and a thermoplastic resin as a major constituent, produced by copolymerizing (A) an .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically copolymerizable monomer having an amino group and (B) .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically copolymerizable monomer other than (A), said outer shell being provided so as to cover the surface of the core material. When the capsulated toner of the present invention is used, the dependency of the amount of electrification upon the environment is small because the electrification can be regulated from within the capsulated toner. Further, because the offset resistance in a heat pressure fixation system, such as a heat roller, is excellent, the fixation can be conducted at a low temperature. Further, the blocking resistance is so good that a clear image, free from fogging, can be stably formed over a plurality of uses.

The present invention is directed to a developing method of a magnetic encapsulated toner, which can be fixed even at a nip pressure of 0.01 to 0.1 kg/cm without a supply of silicone oil onto a surface of a heat roller, using a toner projection developing device. The fixing in the present invention is carried out at a temperature of not more than 120.degree. C. and at a nip pressure of 0.01 to 4 kg/cm. By using these methods, the miniaturization of the overall apparatus can be achieved.

A developing method of the present invention has the steps of forming a uniform layer of a nonmagnetic one-component toner on a developer carrying sleeve with a developer blade; rotating an electrostatic latent image forming member and the developer carrying sleeve; and applying the toner on the developer carrying sleeve onto an electrostatic latent image formed on the electrostatic latent image forming member. The toner used herein is an encapsulated toner having a heat-fusible core material and a shell formed thereon. By using this development for a nonmagnetic one-component toner of the present invention, clear images free from background can be stably formed for a large number of copying.
