    摘要： Apparatus for improving illumination in a photoelectric conversion device having a light source for illuminating an original, and at least one photoelectric conversion element for receiving light reflected from the original includes a light guide for guiding light from the light source to the original, the light guide having at least one side surface. A correction section is provided and is disposed adjacent the side surface of the light guide. The correction section acts to suppress total reflection of at least a portion of the light emitted from the light source. Preferably, the correction section comprises regularly spaced light absorbing or light diffusing elements formed on the side of the light guide. The improvement apparatus may be employed in an information processing apparatus such as a facsimile machine.

    摘要： A photoelectric conversion apparatus having a thin plate glass wear-resisting layer is formed on photoelectric conversion devices, drive circuit and signal lines. An original document is disposed on the wear-resisting layer to confront the photoelectric conversion devices. Light is emitted from a light source disposed to confront the light transmissive substrate on the side opposing the original document, transmitted through a light transmissive substrate and applied to the original document. Reflected light from the original document is received by the photoelectric conversion devices so that electric signals transmitted from the photoelectric conversion devices can be read out through the signal lines. A protection layer is made of an inorganic thin film and formed on at least the photoelectric conversion devices, the drive circuit and the signal lines; a shock-absorbing layer made of an organic film is disposed at least between an end portion of the wear-resisting layer and the light transmissive substrate.

    摘要： An ink jet recording head comprises ink paths communicated with ink discharge ports for discharging ink, and heat generating portions arranged on the inner wall faces of the ink paths for generating thermal energy utilized for discharging ink from the discharge ports. For this ink jet recording head, liquid-repellent treatment is processed only on the regions that correspond to the heat generating portions of the inner wall faces of the ink paths. With the liquid-repellent treatment processed only on the regions corresponding to the heat generating portions on the inner wall faces of the ink paths, it is made difficult for the refractory substances that may be brought about by the decomposition of colorant or the like contained in ink to be fixed on the regions corresponding to the heat generating portions. As a result, the heat of each heat generating device is transferred to ink evenly to make stable ink discharges obtainable for the provision of recorded images in higher quality.

    摘要： An ink jet cartridge has a recording head portion and an ink containing portion which are detachably mountable relative to each other. The recording head portion ejects ink to effect recording with the ink. The cartridge includes a first ink container, provided in the recording head portion, for containing the ink; a second ink container, provided in the ink containing portion, for containing the ink; and an ink communication tube for establishing ink communication between the first ink container and the second ink container, wherein the ink communication tube is not externally exposed. An ink jet recording apparatus includes a recording head for ejecting ink, an ink container detachably mountable to the recording head for containing the ink to be supplied to the recording head, a detecting device for detecting mounting of the ink container to the ink jet recording apparatus and a control device for controlling a recording operation of the ink jet recording apparatus in accordance with an output of the detecting device.
