摘要： An insert rotary cutter includes a cutter body having a forward end face and at least one first cutter insert releasably attached to the cutter body. The first cutter insert is of a generally triangular shape including a front face having three marginal ridges and three corner ridges. Each marginal ridge is comprised of first, second and third ridge portions. The insert has three main cutting edges each defined by a respective first ridge portion, three auxiliary cutting edges each defined by a respective third ridge portion, three corner cutting edges each defined by a respective corner ridge, and three relief cutting edges each defined by a respective second ridge portion. One of the corner cutting edges and the main and auxiliary cutting edges which intersect the corner cutting edge are indexed in active cutting position. The indexed main cutting edge extends generally axially from the body while the indexed auxiliary cutting edge extends slightly beyond the forward end face. The relief cutting edge which intersects the indexed auxiliary cutting edge being displaced rearwardly from the indexed auxiliary cutting edge.

摘要： There is disclosed an insert cutter which includes a tool body having a plurality of mounting recesses formed in an outer peripheral surface thereof and a plurality of cutter inserts each releasably secured to a respective one of the mounting recesses and a plurality of pressing members each received in a respective one of the holes. Each of the mounting recesses defines an abutment face facing axially forwardly of the tool body. The tool body has a plurality of holes formed in the outer peripheral surface thereof and extending radially inwardly thereof. Each of the holes has an inner wall and is displaced rearwardly of the tool body from a respective one of the mounting recesses. Each of the cutter inserts has a face held in contact with the abutment face of a respective one of the mounting recesses. Each pressing member is pressed against the inner wall of the hole, whereby that portion of the tool body between the hole and the mounting recess is elastically deformed.

摘要： A cutting insert is disclosed which includes a polygonal plate-shaped insert body having two opposite faces directed in the direction of insert thickness and a plurality of peripheral faces lying between the opposite faces. The opposite faces have marginal edges with at least one of the marginal edges defining a main cutting edge. The peripheral faces intersect one another to form marginal edges with one of the marginal edges defining an auxiliary cutting edge which intersects the main cutting edge. The peripheral surface which includes the marginal edges defining the main and auxiliary cutting edges includes a rake region extending along the main and auxiliary cutting edge. This rake region is formed into a stepped formation of a plurality of sections disposed adjacent to one another to define marginal edges terminating at one ends at the main cutting edge and to be convexly shaped in such a manner that an angle defined between a respective section and one of the opposite faces which extends from the main cutting edge decreases stepwise in a direction away from the nose portion. At least one of the marginal edges of the sections has the other end extending to the marginal edge defined between the peripheral faces. Moreover, an insert cutter which employs the aforesaid insert is also disclosed.

摘要： A cutting insert is provided with an insert main body formed in the shape of a tetragonal plate, and the insert main body has a pair of tetragonal faces and four side faces. Four cutting edges are formed at ridge lines between the adjacent side faces, each of which is provided with a major cutting edge and a pair of minor cutting edges extending from both ends of the major cutting edge. Four tetragonal rake faces are formed on a pair of side faces, the three sides of each of which is formed by the major cutting edge and the pair of minor cutting edges. A major cutting edge continuing to a first rake face and a major cutting edge continuing to a second rake face extend in a different direction to each other so as to intersect in an X-letter shape.
