摘要: A water-repellent film is applied on to the surface of a welding member such as of a welding backing member disposed backside a joint defined between two mating welding bevels, a welding bevel of a base member to be welded, and a coated welding rod formed by coating a metallic core wire with a flux. The water-repellent film is formed of a hydrophobic material having a contact angle of 90.degree. or above and providing minute concavities and convexities. In a highly humid environment, during rainfall or in water, welding can be effected without weld defects such as blow holes, cracks and the like.

摘要: A high temperature air heater including a heat transfer conduit located in higher temperature gas. The heat transfer conduit is made up of a heat transfer pipe through which the air to be heated flows and a refractory protective pipe covering the heat transfer pipe. A clearance is provided between the heat transfer pipe and the refractory protective pipe. The clearance makes it possible to accommodate the differences in thermal expansion between the heat transfer pipe and the refractory protective pipe to prevent damaging the refractory protective pipe, thus extending the service life of the high temperature air heater.

摘要: A rolled hem switching device comprises a lower knife mounting base which is arranged below a throat plate and is adjustably movable in a lateral direction by way of a laterally moving mechanism provided on a sewing machine frame, a moving pawl which slidably engages a guide groove extending in a cloth feeding direction on a side surface of the lower knife mounting base, a presser member which is fixed to the lower knife mounting base and slidably supports a side surface of the moving pawl and which comprises a horizontal slit of a given length for projecting a projecting portion of the moving pawl therethrough and a lower knife which is fixed to a side surface of the lower knife mounting base at a front side of the presser member for slidably supporting a side surface of the moving pawl. As a result, it is possible not only to switch between forming overlock stitches and forming rolled hem, but also to adjust the width of the overlock stitches by integrally adjusting the lateral positions of the moving pawl and lower knife without changing a throat plate and it is also possible to stably hold the moving pawl.
