Abstract: The present invention teaches multilayer cleaning articles that include a substantially dry surface contact layer and a gripping layer. The contact layer may represent one exposed major face of the cleaning article (e.g., a cleaning pad), while the gripping layer may represent the opposite exposed major face of the cleaning article. The contact layer may include abrasive synthetic fibers, so as to be effective in scrubbing soils and spills from a surface. The contact layer includes a cleaning composition pre-loaded therein. The cleaning composition is such that the contact layer feels dry to the touch prior to use, before wetting with water. The cleaning composition may include about 1% to about 40% by weight water. The gripping layer includes at least 40% by weight of pulp fibers (e.g., natural cellulose pulp fiber), and exhibits a mean hand grip value that is at least 0.015 1/in2 (reciprocal inches squared).

Abstract: Pre-dosed wipes and packaged systems of such wipes including a nonwoven substrate formed from natural pulp fibers and synthetic thermoplastic binder fibers comprising at least one of a biodegradable and/or compostable polyester, polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH), or polyvinyl acetate (PVA). The binder fibers, and the nonwoven substrate as a whole may meet any applicable biodegradability/compostability standard (e.g., ASTM D6400 or EN13432). The wipe may be substantially void of PLA. The fibers and/or nonwoven substrate may be meltblown, spunbond, spunlaid, SMS (spunbond-meltblown-spunbond), coformed, carded web, thermal bonded, thermoformed, spunlace, hydroentangled, hydroembossed, needled, or chemically bonded. A cleaning composition is loaded onto the wipe. A container can be provided within which the plurality of nonwoven substrates pre-dosed with the cleaning composition are packaged.

Abstract: Cleaning tools for cleaning toilets, particularly the interior of a toilet bowl, where bleach is provided within the cleaning tool itself, e.g., in a disposable, single use cleaning head. The tool may include a handle, a cleaning head attachable to the handle, a nonwoven material having an exterior surface and an interior surface, and a solid cleaning composition stored adjacent to the interior surface of the nonwoven material. The solid cleaning composition includes solid bleach, and may also include a solid surfactant. The cleaning composition may be confined within the nonwoven material (e.g., in a pouch), but upon contact with water, dissolved cleaning composition is able to migrate through the nonwoven material, through a scrubbing layer, and be delivered to the surface being cleaned. Release may achieve at least a 3-log reduction in Staphylococcus aureus within 5 minutes.
