摘要: The invention relates to a method for improving the quality of control signalling based on signalling messages controlling speech or data transmission over an air interface between at least two radio terminals of a radio communications system, said speech or data being transmitted in at least one traffic channel of said radio communications system, and said signalling messages being transmitted in control channels associated with said at least one traffic channel. In order to allow for an improved performance of SACCH and FACCH, a first and a second signalling message with identical content are transmitted in two separate associated control channels. Alternatively, a signalling message included in a single ACCH is coded with a stronger coding. The invention relates equally to corresponding radio terminals and modules for such units.

摘要: A method of transmitting inband signaling messages in a mobile telecommunications network using SACCH burst. In order to avoid puncturing a fixed amount of bits out of every SACCH burst for inband signaling, the 40-bit FIRE code of the SACCH is replaced with a shorter CRC code, thereby creating unused bits for carrying the messages. After the SACCH block is shortened, a plurality of dummy bits are inserted into the shortened block prior to applying a ½ convolutional code to obtain the coded block. The coded block is further interleaved, reordered and mapped into 4 SACCH bursts. The dummy bits in each SACCH block are then replaced by the inband signaling for transmission.

摘要: A method and a device for reconfiguration in a wireless system utilizing flexible layer one (FLO). In proposed solution one TFC (Transport Format Combination) is selected and reserved (504) exclusively for signalling use. The TFC may contain only one active transport channel and always utilize the same CRC and transport block size in order to unambiguously define the proper settings for signalling. Considering uplink transmission in a wireless system and special case of TFCI (Transport Format Combination Identifier) size change due to the TFCS (Transport Format Combination Set) reconfiguration that also generates a need to switch to a new dedicated basic physical subchannel (DBPSCH); whenever the network notices that the mobile station does not switch to the new DBPSCH (518), it concludes that the TFCS reconfiguration message sent was lost and stays with the existing configuration (520). Otherwise the new configuration is taken into use (514).

摘要: A method and a device are considered for implementing minimum activity during discontinuous transmission in a telecommunication connection used to carry a service. The service is allowed to involve transmitting upper-level scheduled silence-breaking transmissions at predetermined regular intervals during otherwise silent periods. There is determined (407, 408, 409) a maximum length of a silent period that is longer than the predetermined regular intervals between upper-level scheduled silence-breaking transmissions. A Layer 2 entity of a protocol stack observes (411) the occurrence of silent periods and transmits (412) a dummy block over the telecommunication connection if the length of an observed silent period reaches said maximum length without an upper-level scheduled silence-breaking transmission having been transmitted.

摘要: A method and the corresponding devices are disclosed for transmitting control information on a control channel associated with a traffic channel. The traffic channel is determined to be either a full- or half rate channel or a quarter rate channel. As a response to determining the traffic channel to be a full- or half rate channel, a control information block of fixed size is transformed into a first number of control information bursts which are all transmitted. As a response to determining the traffic channel to be a quarter rate channel, a control information block of said fixed size is transformed into a second number of control information bursts, where said second number is smaller than the first number. Said second number of control information bursts are transmitted. It is checked, whether a retransmission is requested concerning said second number of transmitted control information bursts. If a retransmission is requested concerning said second transmitted control information bursts, another number of control information bursts is transmitted describing the contents of the control information block which was transformed into said second number of transmitted control information bursts.

摘要: A system and method for reducing idle mode power consumption for mobile stations (MS) that have joined a Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS) session and are waiting for the session to start. The invention is also directed to reducing the power consumption of an MS for which an MBMS session is inactive. In alternative aspects of the invention, the power consumption of mobile stations is reduced in the absence of ongoing MBMS session activity. Reduced power consumption is achieved by eliminating the need to read notification messages from an MBMS specific notification paging group when the notification message is for a different MBMS session than the paging group that the MS has currently joined.

摘要: Techniques are presented for repetition on both uplink and downlink Slow Associated Control Channel (SACCH) channels. For instance, an exemplary method is disclosed that is performed by a mobile node. The method includes receiving from a network node a first block of data over a downlink SACCH channel, and storing the first block of data. The method also includes, subsequent to receiving the first block of data, receiving from the network node a second block of data over the downlink SACCH channel. The method further includes attempting to decode the second block of data. The method additionally includes, in response to a failure in the attempt to decode the second block of data, combining into a combination the second block with the stored first block of data. The method also includes attempting to decode the combination.
