Abstract:
Spray equipment is used to apply fiberglass reinforced plastics onto mold surfaces. Such spray equipment includes a nozzle designed to allow flow of resin to a point of application as well as an outlet dispenser of small cut pieces of glass which aims the glass into the resin flow so that the resin and glass mix beyond the nozzle exit. A second nozzle is positioned below the resin nozzle and is angled slightly upwardly at the resin stream in the form of an air knife. The air knife causes the resin stream to uniformly spread permitting the chopped glass to fall within the resin stream and uniformly mixed therewithin for application to a mold surface.

The nozzle (10) has at least one pair of openings (18, 20) located on its front face (28) along a common axis (32). Each opening (18, 20) is spaced apart (26) from and angled towards its pair mate. A non-atomized solid liquid stream (14, 16) is directed through each circular opening (18, 20) by a pressurized source. The two streams (14, 16) from each pair of openings (18, 20) meet at a spaced apart point in front of the nozzle face (28) to create a flat triangular pattern of liquid (24).
Abstract:
A row of openings on the same axis are located on a rotary fitting mounted on a front face of a cylindrical nozzle body having a longitudinal bore. A nozzle retainer is mounted within the longitudinal bore and has a tapered seal within an inner channel. A passageway within the tapered seal aligns with a channel in the rotary fitting leading to the row of openings. A filled resin is pumped through the nozzle openings via a standard resin gun. When the nozzle openings plug with resin, the rotary fitting is turned 180 degrees and the plug material is evacuated by a pressurized fluid.
Abstract:
A pair of high speed blowers are pivotally mounted in a vertical plane on a movable frame structure. Each blower has blades turning in an opposite direction from the other blower. The blowers are locked in place at an angle of 10 to 60 degrees with respect to each other so that air emanating from the blowers impinge on each other downstream from the blowers. The air impingement creates a triangular type expanding air stream pattern downstream from the impingement area.
Abstract:
A flow alarm includes a magnetic switch that is maintained open so long as catalyst flow is maintained and an air flow switch that is closed responsive to flow of air through an associated conduit. The associated conduit supplies air via a solenoid valve to a pneumatic whistle. When flow of catalyst falls below a pre-set threshhold, the magnetic switch closes completing the circuit with the solenoid valve causing the solenoid valve to open and allowing air flow to the pneumatic whistle to signal the reduction of catalyst flow.
Abstract:
A spray nozzle includes a central resin nozzle and peripheral catalyst nozzles as well as air nozzles designed to emit streams of air to shape the flow of the resin material from the resin nozzle. The resin nozzle is mounted on a rotary fitting allowing the direction of the resin nozzle to be reversed 180.degree. to permit cleaning of the resin nozzle. The air nozzles consist of passageways through the rotary fitting that are aligned with respective sources of air pressure when the rotary fitting is positioned to permit spraying of resin through the resin nozzle.
