摘要: A dosage verification system for use prior to administering an injection of a medicinal fluid drawn into a medical syringe, the system comprising a medical syringe having a barrel with an outwardly facing, flat indicia display surface, plunger having a plunger seal disposed inside and slidably engaging an inwardly facing wall of the barrel and a plunger handle projecting rearwardly from the barrel, and a hypodermic needle projecting forwardly from the barrel, all in combination with an imaging device configured to view and selectively capture, store or transmit a digital image of the plunger position relative to the barrel when a dose of the medicinal fluid is drawn into the fluid chamber of the barrel prior to an injection to verify and provide a record of the dosage drawn, and to alert a user prior to injection when an incorrect dosage is drawn into the fluid chamber of the syringe.

摘要: A syringe for medical use, the syringe having a selectively retractable needle and a multifunctional needle holder and retainer ring assembly including a needle holder with a head section having an inwardly tapering frustoconical section of the fluid pathway and a rearwardly facing annular surface surrounding the rear opening, and an elastomeric retainer ring with a substantially unexpanded collar extending rearwardly beyond the rearwardly facing annular surface to increase needle pushout force, reduce activation force and improve fluid flow through the syringe. Annular projections inside the retainer ring and on the outer surface of the head section of the needle holder are also disclosed.

摘要: An intravenous catheter introducer for medical use having a body, a frontal attachment that is disposed in transverse sliding engagement with a front part of the body, a hub tube assembly that is releasably supported by the frontal attachment, and a retractable catheter insertion needle and needle holder that are biased rearwardly by a spring offset laterally from the needle axis, whereby lateral repositioning of the body relative to the frontal attachment following vascular insertion moves a needle retraction cavity disposed inside the body into substantial coaxial alignment and causes the needle holder to be retracted into the needle retraction cavity.

Cooperatively configured sets of ramps and stop surfaces limit lateral sliding movement of the body relative to the slide assembly.
