    摘要： In a contact detecting apparatus that detects contact of a head with a recording medium, a signal writing unit writes onto the recording medium, a signal that includes at least one predetermined frequency component; and a contact detecting unit detects the contact of the head with the recording medium based on an amplitude of the predetermined frequency component, by reading the signal written on the recording medium while changing a spacing between the head and the recording medium.

    摘要： A method for evaluating a magnetized state of a pinned layer of a magnetoresistive spin-valve element used, together with a recording element, in a magnetic head, is provided. The method includes the steps of (a) supplying a first alternating current to the recording element, while supplying a second current for generating a magnetic field to the spin-valve element, the direction of the magnetic field generated by the second current being opposite to a prescribed direction of magnetization of the pinned layer adjacent to an antiferromagnetic layer; and (b) determining whether the magnetization of the pinned layer is inverted toward said direction opposite to the prescribed direction.

    摘要： A disk device, in which information is written by a magnetic head at an arbitrary position on a magnetic recording surface of a disk and the information written at the arbitrary position is read out, includes a control unit for controlling an operation of writing information at the arbitrary position on the magnetic recording surface of the disk and for controlling an operation of reading out the information written at the arbitrary position. The disk device also includes a modulation detecting unit for detecting that a modulation has been generated, by contact between the magnetic head and the disk, on the basis of a regenerative signal of a single frequency data region which is reproduced by a reproducing head element when the magnetic head is moved to a predetermined position in each track, wherein the single frequency data region is previously formed at the predetermined position in each track. On the other hand, a method of controlling the disk device, in which the above disk device is used, is disclosed.

    摘要： According to a user's recording instruction, a navigation apparatus acquires reception data (music information and identification information) from a satellite digital radio apparatus on a tune basis and records the data on a hard disk. After the recording is complete, the navigation apparatus uses a size of the reception data recorded on the hard disk to determine whether or not the recording is interrupted in the middle of a tune. When the recording is interrupted, the navigation apparatus registers the tune's identification information to an interrupted recording list. The navigation apparatus then acquires identification information about a tune being received from the satellite digital radio apparatus. When the interrupted recording list registers the identification information, that is, the recording-interrupted music is rebroadcast, the navigation apparatus acquires reception data from the satellite digital radio apparatus and re-records it on the hard disk.
