摘要： A brake operating device comprising a housing having a bearing portion, an operating lever supported by a pivot on the bearing portion, and a coiled return spring having a pair of engaging portions extending from the axial opposite ends of its coil portion laterally outward for biasing the lever in a returning direction. The coil portion of the spring is accommodated inside the operating lever and has its axis positioned in parallel with the axis of the pivot. One of the engaging portions is attached to the bearing portion, and the other engaging portion extends along the lever and has a slider slidably in contact with the lever inner surface. The spring is therefore retained in position, properly biasing the lever in the returning direction.

摘要： An operating unit including a brake operating lever capable of being grasped is mounted to a handlebar or the like. The brake unit for applying a braking force to the members to be controlled such as the wheels or the like is connected by a Bowden cable. 摘要： A housing pivotably supporting an operating lever is mounted on a handle bar by a band. A nut with opposite end ears engaged in apertures formed in the ends of the band is held drawn into the housing by a bolt provided within the housing and extending through the nut in screw-thread engagement therewith to fasten the band to the handle bar. Each of the ears includes a shank projecting from each end of the nut and a flange formed at the outer end of the shank and having a portion remote from the center of the shank and a portion close to the shank center diametrically of the shank. Each of the apertures in the band is so shaped as to permit the flange to removably pass therethrough and to render the shank displaceable within the aperture, thereby making the band engageable with the inside surface of the flange.

To this end, the brake lever of the device is provided with first and second connectors to which an inner wire of the Bowden cable is connected to the brake lever, a first opening is provided at the base of the hollow housing and a second opening provided at the top of the hollow housing, a first retainer, which retains an outer sheath of the Bowden cable while permitting passage of the inner wire, is situated between the first opening of the housing and the first conductor of the brake lever, while a second such retainer is situated between the second opening of the housing and the second connector of the brake lever. A capped bush made of abrasion-resistant synthetic resin and having a flange around a closed end thereof and a retaining flange around an open end thereof is fitted in the hole with the open end positioned inward. A rollershaped connector has a trunk portion slightly smaller than the hole in diameter, a short pin portion projecting from each end of the trunk portion, a wire engaging portion at the center of the trunk portion and an overall length equal to or slightly smaller than the outside width of the portion of the manipulating or operating member having the two walls. The opposite pin portions of the connector are inserted in and supported by the bushes mounted on the pair of walls.

摘要： Device comprising an adjusting device provided at least at one end of a bowden cable for transmitting a grasping force on a brake operating lever in a direction to actuate brake shoes. The adjusting device includes a gauge member having a bore for passing the inner element of the cable therethrough and a hole or recess formed at one end of the bored portion and having a depth to determine a proper brake clearance, a nut having a portion shaped to fit in the recess of the gauge member and a portion of a shape unfittable in the recess when turned through a desired angle, and an adjusting screw member screwed in the nut and connected to the outer element of the cable. While the nut is disengaged from the recess of the gauge member, the adjusting screw member is advanced on the nut in screw-thread engagement therewith until the ends of the brake shoes come into contact with the rim and, after the brake shoes contact the rim, the nut is fitted into the recess of the gauge member to thereby give the proper brake clearance.

摘要： A wire coupling device for connecting a displacement-transmitting wire therein is formed by engagement of two wire engaging members, wherein a first engaging member is entered through pivotal holes and then a second engaging member is inserted into a hollow cylinder of the first member, thereafter the two members are circumferentially turned to coincide respective notched grooves, thus the wire coupling device is formed. To the formed device, a wire terminal nipple is connected to serve as a wire coupling in a brake system of a bicycle, wherein the first member and the second member are integrally engaged and are adapted to turn in pivotal holes. Further the invention prevents possible disengagement of the connected nipple by way of turning the two engaged members relatively for about 180 degrees to cross over the grooves and openings provided on the members so that the nipple is enclosed in the wire coupling device.
