This invention provides methods for producing a high-molecular weight polycarbodiimide solution from an organic diisocyanate in the presence of a carbodiimidation catalyst, wherein 1) a chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbon or 2) an alicyclic ether is used as a solvent.
