摘要: A back plate 7 is provided to a backside of a case 8 which accommodates an airbag 11 of an airbag module 5 to reduce the deformation of the case 8 toward a back side in the event of airbag deployment. The back plate 7 is supported on a steering member or the case 8, and an upper portion of the back plate 7 is held on a back support 19 protruding from the instrument panel 1.

摘要: A knee protector structure comprises a transverse frame member extending in the transverse direction of a vehicle body below an instrument panel provided in front of the front seat, a center bracket an upper portion of which is connected to a body panel in front of the front seat substantially at the middle between right and left sides and a lower portion of which is connected to the floor of the vehicle body. The frame member is connected to the cabside at an outer end portion and to the center bracket at an inner end portion. A knee pad is supported by a bracket member connected to the frame member at a front end portion and to the knee pad at a rear end portion.

摘要: A structure of a vehicle instrument panel area, which is capable of sufficiently ensuring a frontward displacement of a steering column adapted to be displaced frontwardly in response to an impact load applied thereto frontwardly, even under a condition that a column cover is disposed to overlap with a meter unit when viewed in an axial direction of the steering column. A meter unit 3 is attached to an instrument panel 1 through brittles portions 31g, 31g, 33g, 33g, in such a manner as to allow the attachment therebetween to be released when a column cover 5 is brought into contact with the meter unit 3.

摘要: A knee protector structure provided facing knees of a passenger seated in a front seat of a vehicle for stopping a forward movement of the passenger by the knees to lighten a collision impact applied to the passenger comprising front body means for mounting a knee protector, protecting panel provided in the knee protector for being brought into contact with the knees in case of collision. The protecting panel has an upper panel portion and a lower panel portion. The lower panel portion having a rigidity smaller than the lower panel portion so that the lower panel portion is deformed greater than the upper panel portion when the knees are brought into contact with the knee protector in case of the collision.

摘要: A passenger restraint structure for an automotive vehicle has a glove box which has at least one face that is able to be opened to a passenger compartment and is attached to an instrument panel so as to be opposed to the knees of a passenger. The glove box has an intermediate wall connecting a front wall and a rear wall of the glove box. A stiffener member is located between the glove box and a part of a vehicle body and is stiffer than the glove box for crash energy generated between the passenger and the vehicle body in the running direction of the vehicle. Upon impact, the weaker intermediate wall of the glove box is compressed, deformed and broken, thereby absorbing the crash energy.

摘要: A vehicle steering column support structure including a first support member made of a steel pipe extending between the cowl side panels substantially parallelly with the cowl inner panel. A second support member of a substantially L-shaped configuration is provided and has a first portion extending along the first support member and a second portion extending downward from the first portion. The first portion is connected at the end with the cowl side panel and the second portion is connected to the floor panel. The steering column is supported through a bracket by the first and second support member and the cowl inner panel.

摘要: A passenger protection device of an automotive vehicle which includes a steering support member for supporting a steering column and extending in the transverse direction of the vehicle in an instrument panel. A knee protector is disposed in the instrument panel corresponding to a position of the knees of the passenger. The knee protector has a receiving portion for receiving an impact from the knees of a passenger sitting on a front passenger seat. A deformable portion deforms when the receiving portion receives the impact from the knees of the passenger. Equipment is installed in the instrument panel in front of the knee protector, and a restricting member is provided on the steering support member and disposed between the equipment and the knee protector for restricting movement of the equipment backwardly.

摘要: A steering apparatus support structure includes a steering support member extending transversely in a vehicle body and secured to rigid side components of the vehicle body which are likely free from deformation during a frontal end collision and a support bracket device secured to and supported by the steering support member for supporting forward and rearward portions of the steering column. The support bracket device is releasably linked to a vehicle body part which can be deformed backward during a frontal end collision, and the vehicle body part is allowed to be disconnected from the support bracket device when backward deformation is caused in the vehicle body part.

摘要: A vehicle steering column support structure including a first support member made of a steel pipe. The first support member is from a substantially L-shaped configuration and has a first portion extending along the cowl inner panel and a second portion extending downward from a first portion. The first portion is connected at the end with the cowl side panel and the second portion is connected to the floor panel. A second support member made of a steel pipe is further provided and has a first portion extending along the first portion from the first support member, and a second portion extending forward from the first portion.
