The assembly also has a second body with an aperture aligned with the first body bore. A fastener is provided having a head compressively engages the second body. A shank of the fastener has threaded engagement with the bore, and at least 10% of a free length of the shank is encircled by the countersunk portion of the bore.

    摘要: An air disk brake caliper housing is disclosed. The caliper housing includes a open rear end portion that opens into a passageway for receiving an actuator/adjuster mechanism. To minimize the outer contour of the caliper housing to alleviate packaging concerns with respect to a vehicle axle, the passageway is offset above an operating position for the actuator/adjuster mechanism. As the actuator/adjuster mechanism is inserted into the offset passageway, it passes a retaining step formed in the interior of the passageway to provide sufficient running clearance for gears of the actuator/adjuster mechanism. Once passing the retaining step, the actuator/adjuster mechanism may be dropped down to the appropriate operating height and installed in the operating position within the caliper.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for selectively coupling members in a brake actuating mechanism. A coupling member is located between an outer clutch sleeve and a clutch cap. The coupling member exerts a pre-determined amount of force on both the outer clutch sleeve and the clutch cap. The force couples the outer clutch sleeve and the clutch cap. The coupling member allows the outer clutch sleeve and the clutch cap to decouple if a torque acting on the clutch cap exceeds the force exerted by the coupling member.

    摘要: A brake actuator mechanism has an inner shaft received at least partially within an outer shaft. The overload protection device is disposed between the inner shaft and the outer shaft. The device selectively couples the inner shaft and the outer shaft so that when the outer shaft receives a torque beyond a predetermined limit, the device allows the outer shaft to rotate about the inner shaft without rotating the inner shaft.
