    Abstract: A header connector includes a header housing and a contact array of header contacts coupled to the header housing. The header contact has a mating pin at a mating end. The mating pin has a first side and a second side. The mating pin has a tip at a front of the mating pin. The mating pin has a top mating interface remote from and rearward of the tip configured to engage a first flexible contact finger of a receptacle contact. The mating pin has a bottom mating interface remote from and rearward of the tip configured to engage a second flexible contact finger of the receptacle contact. The header contact has an edge mating interface at the first side proximate to the tip configured to engage the receptacle contact.

    Abstract: A leadframe for a contact module includes signal contacts arranged in pairs carrying differential signals. Each pair of signal contacts includes a first signal contact and a second signal contact. Each signal contact has a mating beam at an end thereof configured to be electrically connected to a corresponding header contact of a header assembly. Each mating beam includes a stem and a branch extending from the stem. A first paddle extends from the stem and a second paddle extends from the branch. In an initial, stamped orientation, the mating beams are stamped such that the mating beams of the first and second signal contacts within the same pair of signal contacts are angled non-parallel to one another.

    Abstract: A connector assembly includes contact modules each having a wafer, a first ground frame extending along a first side of the wafer and a second ground frame extending along a second side of the wafer. The wafer has a dielectric body holding a plurality of signal contacts. The first ground frame has beams extending from a front of the first ground frame. The second ground frame has shields at least partially surrounding corresponding mating portions of the signal contacts. Each first ground frame is mechanically and electrically connected to an adjacent second ground frame of an adjacent contact module. Each second ground frame is mechanically and electrically connected to an adjacent first ground frame of an adjacent contact module.

    Abstract: Electrical connector assembly including an electrical connector having signal contacts and ground contacts that are coupled to a connector housing and disposed along a mounting side of the connector housing. The electrical connector assembly also includes a contact organizer that is positioned along the mounting side of the connector housing. The contact organizer has signal windows and ground passages extending therethrough that are defined by respective inner surfaces of the contact organizer. The ground contacts engage the inner surfaces of the ground passages when the contact organizer is held in a pre-loaded position away from the mounting side. The contact organizer moves to a seated position against the mounting side when the electrical connector is mounted to the circuit board. Each of the signal contacts is surrounded by an air gap that exists between the signal contact and the inner surface of the corresponding signal window.

    Abstract: An eye-of-the needle (EON) pin contact is provided for being received within an electrical via that includes conductive material. The EON pin contact includes a compliant segment having two opposing spring arms and an opening defined between the spring arms. The compliant segment is configured to be received within the electrical via such that the spring arms engage the conductive material of the electrical via. A tip segment extends from the compliant segment. The tip segment is configured to be received into the electrical via before the compliant segment is received into the electrical via. The tip segment includes a broach that is configured to displace the conductive material as the tip segment is received into the electrical via to plow a path through the conductive material for reception of a corresponding one of the spring arms.

    Abstract: A card guide is provided for holding a printed circuit board. The card guide includes a body extending a length from a front end to a rear end. The body includes a slot. The slot is configured to receive an edge of printed circuit board therein. A first spring member extends into the slot. The first spring member is configured to engage in physical contact with the edge of the printed circuit board within the slot such that the first spring number biases the printed circuit board in a first direction. A second spring member extends into the slot. The second spring member is configured to engage in physical contact with the edge of the printed circuit board within the slot such that the second spring member biases the print circuit board in a second direction that extends approximately perpendicular to the first direction.
