Abstract: A method for recognizing abnormal image is disclosed. The invention utilizes level comparisons of adjacent image lines to determine if there is any abnormal image amid an image picture and whether the abnormal image belongs to shading or LBB. The method comprises the following steps. First of all, two adjacent image lines having level values Pi and Pinull1 are selected. Then an absolute value of the Pi and the Pinull1 is calculated. Next the absolute value is compared with a value X. When the absolute value is smaller than X, then the image lines are determined as normal. On the contrary, when the absolute value is larger than X, then at least one of the image lines is determined as abnormal. Moreover, another two image lines having level values Pinull1 and Pinull2 separately adjacent the image lines having level values Pi and the Pinull1 are selected. An absolute value of the Pinull1 and the Pinull2 is calculated and the absolute value of the Pinull1 and the Pinull2 is compared to the value X. When the absolute value of the Pinull1 and the Pinull2 is smaller than X, then the image lines having level values Pi and Pinull1 are determined as shading. However, when the absolute value of the Pinull1 and the Pinull2 is larger than X, then the image lines having level values Pi, Pinull1, Pinull1 and Pinull2 are determined as LBB.

Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, a method and a system for promoting scanning speed are provided. The method comprises steps of determining a transmission rate of a transit interface, adjusting system clock responsive to the transmission rate of the transit interface to change a data generated rate, and scanning an original to generate data at the rate controlled by the system clock. The key aspect of the present invention is by adjusting system clock to change the data generated rate corresponding to the transmission rate of the transit interface. Therefore, in response to the transmission rate of the transit interface, the system clock is adjusted to produce the data at a rate that can reduce the possibility of memory buffer full leading to the reduction in the time wasting on start-stop processes and therefore promote the scanning speed without requiring the increase in size of a memory buffer.

Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, a method and a system for increasing scanning speed are provided. The method comprises steps of determining a transmission rate of a transit interface, scanning an original to generate an image data, and adjusting a cycle time of the image data to change a data generated rate responsive to the transmission rate of the transit interface. The key aspect of the present invention is by adjusting the cycle time of a state machine to change the data generated rate corresponding to the transmission rate of the transit interface. Therefore, in response to the transmission rate of the transit interface, the cycle time of the state machine is adjusted to produce the data at a rate that prevents the smearing process. Thus, incorporated with the present invention, the possibility of memory buffer full is reduced leading to the reduction in the time wasting on start-stop processes and therefore the overall scanning speed is increased without requiring the increase in size of a memory buffer.

Abstract: A method for selecting a shading correcting line is provided. Scanning a white reference source to obtain several scan lines. Averaging brightness values of pixels from identical columns in the scan lines to obtain a new scan line composed of pixels having median brightness values. Adding one count in shading counting number when an absolute value of a difference of the median brightness values between each pair of adjacent pixels in the new scan line not less than a specification value of shading definition. Selecting the new scan line as a shading correcting line when total shading counting number less than a specification number of shading counts.

Abstract: A scanning apparatus utilizing gravity acceleration for scanning is provided. The scanning apparatus comprises a U-shaped housing, a shaft bearing, a housing and a scanning head. The shaft bearing passes through the housing with two ends thereof respectively and rotationally fastened on two sidewalls of the U-shaped housing, thereby the housing is vertically and rotationally fastened in the U-shaped housing. The scanning head is disposed in the housing with an engageable piece engaged with a hook-type element of the housing so as to fasten the scanning head at a predetermined position close to the top end of the housing. When the scanning head is going to scan, the engagement between the engageable piece and the hook-type element is released and a starting power is applied to the scanning head by gravity acceleration. Thereby the scanning head is guided to move downward to scan via cooperation between a guiding piece and a guiding rail. The scanning speed of the scanning head is determined by the starting power controlled by a predetermined angle contained between the housing and the U-shaped housing.
