The ligands contain an aryl covalently bonded to the coordinating metal where the aryl group has at least two different alkyl side chains that are linked ortho and para compared to the linkage of the coordinating metal on that aryl group.

ring B is independently a 5-membered or 6-membered carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring;
X1 to X4 are each independently selected from the group consisting of C, N, and CR;
at least one pair of adjacent X1 to X4 are each C and fused to Formula V
where indicated by “”; X5 to X12 are each independently C or N; the maximum number of N within a ring is two; Z and Y are each independently selected from the group consisting of O, S, Se, NR′, CR′R″, SiR′R″, and GeR′R″; RB and RC each independently represents zero, mono, or up to a maximum allowed substitutions to its associated ring; each of RB, RC, R, R′, and R″ is independently hydrogen or a substituent selected from the group consisting of deuterium, halogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, heteroalkyl, heterocycloalkyl, arylalkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, amino, silyl, alkenyl, cycloalkenyl, heteroalkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, heteroaryl, acyl, carboxylic acid, ether, ester, nitrile, isonitrile, sulfanyl, sulfinyl, sulfonyl, phosphino, boryl, and combinations thereof; and two substituents can be joined or fused to form a ring; the ligand LA is complexed to a metal M through the two indicated dash lines of each Formula; and the ligand LA can be joined with other ligands to form a tridentate, tetradentate, pentadentate, or hexadentate ligand.-

In particular, the 2-phenylquinoline may be substituted with a cycloalkyl containing group at the 5-position. These compounds may be used in organic light emitting devices, in particular as red emitters in the emissive layer of such devices, to provide devices having improved properties.

摘要: A metal iridium complexes, devices containing the same, and formulations including the same described. The complexes can have the formula Ir(L1)n(L2)3−n, wherein the first ligand L1 has Formula I, the second ligand L2 has Formula II, L1 is different from L2; R1 is a partially or fully deuterated group consisting of alkyl and cycloalkyl; R2 represents mono, di, tri substitutions or no substitution; R3, R4 and R5 each represent mono, di, tri, tetra substitutions or no substitution; R2 and R3 are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, deuterium, alkyl, cycloalkyl, and combinations thereof; R4 and R5 are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, deuterium, halide, alkyl, cycloalkyl, heteroalkyl, arylalkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, amino, silyl, alkenyl, cycloalkenyl, heteroalkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, heteroaryl, acyl, carbonyl, carboxylic acids, ester, nitrile, isonitrile, sulfanyl, sulfinyl, sulfonyl, phosphino, and combinations thereof; and n is 1 or 2. Homoleptic, tris-iridium complex including deuterated alkyl groups are also described.
