A device for connecting a phone to a vehicle, the device including: a case, the case including: a long-range radio frequency (RF) transceiver for communication with a control device in a vehicle via a long-range wireless link; and a short-range bluetooth (BT) transceiver for communicating with a smartphone via a short-range wireless link, wherein the case is configured to be attached to an external surface of the smartphone, and wherein the device is configured to relay commands from the smartphone to the vehicle.

A portable transceiver for locking and locating an automobile, includes a remote keyless entry system for locking the automobile; a locating device determining a location of the transceiver, wherein the remote keyless entry system and the locating device are housed in a pocket sized housing; and a processor deriving directional information from a current location to a waypoint, wherein in response to an activation of the remote keyless entry system, the locating device determines the waypoint corresponding substantially to that of the automobile.

A system for alerting a person about a child left in a car seat, the system including: a first unit, wherein the first unit includes a first short-range wireless transceiver; a second unit, wherein the second unit includes a second short-range wireless transceiver, and wherein the first short-range wireless transceiver and the second short-range wireless transceiver pair with each other when they are in a pairing range; and an occupancy sensor, wherein the occupancy sensor is communicably coupled to the second unit, and wherein when the occupancy sensor is disposed on a child car seat that is occupied by a child, and the first unit leaves the pairing range for a predetermined period of time, the first unit signals an alarm.
