摘要： A method for shrink packaging bone-in food masses such as meat cuts is disclosed, A patch bag comprising a thin-walled heat shrinkable thermoplastic film bag and a thick-walled non-heat shrinkable thermoplastic film patch having its inner surface bonded to the bag outer surface is used. Both surfaces have high energy as the sole bonding means and the patch-bag bond strength increases during heat shrinking around the meat mass such that the bag portion adhered to the patch shrinks less than the rest of the bag.

摘要： A packaging material, a method of making such a material, and a package made from such material, are disclosed. A substrate comprises at least one sheet of plastic material. An energy-curable coating is applied to one side of the substrate, which will be the outside of the eventual package. The energy-curable coating is cured by exposing it to an electron beam or other appropriate energy. A cold-seal cohesive coating is applied to the other side of the substrate. The package is formed by pressing together portions of the inside surface of at least one sheet of the material having the cold-seal cohesive coating on them to form a seal. Preferably, the cold-seal cohesive coating is applied only to those portions of the material that are to form seams in the eventual package.

摘要： A bag having a built-in closure tab is defined. The closure tab is formed from the outer layer of the laminate which makes up the bag. When a user of the bag wishes to close the bag, the user folds or rolls the sides of the bag together down the side of the bag having the tab. The tab is partially separated from the rest of the outer layer of the laminate. A pressure sensitive adhesive disposed on the interior surface of the tab is used to affix the tab to the rolled down portion of the bag, preventing unwanted opening of the bag. The tab may be affixed and removed from the rolled down portion a number of times, thereby allowing the user to open and reseal the bag as many times as desired.

In one embodiment the multilayer film is suitable for use in packaging primal and subprimal meat cuts, said film comprising a first outer layer containing a heat sealable thermoplastic polymer; a core layer comprising an oxygen barrier film; and a second outer layer comprising an ethylene polymer having siloxane cross-linking bonds. In another embodiment the multilayer film contains a second core layer containing an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, which is located between the barrier core layer and the second outer layer.

摘要： A heat-shrinkable, multilayer film suitable for use in fabricating bags for packaging primal and sub-primal meat cuts and processed meats. The multilayer film has a first outer layer of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, a core layer of a barrier film comprising vinylidene chloride-methyl acrylate copolymer, and a second outer layer of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer. The multilayer film is preferably made by co-extrusion of the layers, and then it is biaxially stretched. After biaxial stretching, the multilayer film is irradiated to a dosage level of between 1 megarad and 5 megarads and heat-sealed in the form of a bag. The bag has improved storage stability characteristics.

摘要： A container having an integrated bottom end closure subassembly. The container includes a top opening and bottom opening. The top opening is initially closed and sealed with a top membrane while the bottom opening is closed by the end closure subassembly. The subassembly includes an end cap and a bottom membrane. The subassembly is configured so that positioning the end cap onto the container to close the bottom opening positions the bottom membrane near the container. The bottom membrane may be sealed to the container. Once the bottom membrane is sealed to the container, the end cap may be removed from the container independently from the bottom membrane. The end cap provides protection to the bottom membrane during shipping and handling and then is used by the consumer to reclose the top opening once the top membrane is removed.

摘要： Heat-shrinkable films suitable for packaging food articles such as frozen poultry, primal meat cuts, and processed meat products. In one embodiment, the film may be a biaxially stretched monolayer film of a very low density polyethylene copolymer. In another embodiment, the film may be a biaxially stretched multilayer film comprising a first outer layer of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, a core layer of a barrier film such as a polyvinylidene chloride copolymer or an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer, and a second outer layer comprising a blend of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and a very low density polyethylene copolymer. The multilayer film is preferably made by coextrusion of the layers. The films are fabricated into bags useful for the aforementioned purposes. The bags have improved toughness.
