摘要： A device for advancing thin sheet material such as checks and reading information thereon is disclosed. The device includes first and second paired advancement assemblies for directing the checks through the device. Sensors are positioned between the paired advancement assemblies for magnetically and optically reading information or indicia on the check. Each paired advancement assembly includes a driven roller element driven around respective parallel axes of rotation. The axes are orthogonal to a direction of advancement of the check through the device. Each roller element cooperates with a plurality of balls to engage and advance the check or material located therebetween. The balls are permitted to rotate any direction, and the balls are spring-biased towards the driven roller elements so that the balls may shift towards and away from the driven roller elements, and so that a pressure contact is maintained against the check through the paired advancement assemblies.

In order to achieve this, a rotary flow movement along a central axis is imparted to the mixture of vapor and air by swirl bodies (19, 21) and coil spring inserts (22, 23) inserted alternately therewith inside the spray pipe (18) and the liquid which has not yet vaporized is given a flow direction in opposition to that of the main stream of the mixture and consequently a long residence time of the liquid on the pipe wall of the spray pipe (18) is achieved.

摘要： A personal binding machine for assembling a preformed coil into a stack of prepunched sheets which includes a loading tube assembly that properly orients the coil to be driven into the stack of sheets, a drive assembly which drives the coil into the stack of sheets, and crimping assemblies for crimping the ends of the coil once inserted into the sheets. The drive assembly includes a three surface contact system having a coil guide substantially adjacent the edge of the stack of sheets, a drive roller and an idler roller. While the coil guide is stationary within the housing, the location of the drive and idler rollers may be adjusted via a camming system to accommodate various coil sizes. The crimping assemblies include a cradle and blade mechanism wherein the blade presses an end of the coil into a cradle to bend or crimp the end. The drive roller may alternately be directly accessed to manually drive the coil through a stack of sheets.
