摘要: A steel wire for high-strength bolts is used for a non heat-treatment bolt with an excellent cold forgeability for which quenching and tempering steps have been omitted after bolt formation, and which has a tensile strength of 1200 MPa or more and an excellent delayed fracture resistance. The steel wire includes C, Si, Mn, P, S, Cr, Al, N, and B, at least one selected from the group consisting of Ti, V, and Nb with the balance consisting of iron and inevitable impurities. The steel wire has a microstructure wherein ferrite and perlite have a total area rate of 98% or more, perlite lamellar spacing is 250 nm or less, and an area rate of the perlite is more than 40%, and 80% or less. The steel wire has a tensile strength of 1300 MPa or less.

摘要: A wire mesh rivet (13) is provided which is used to produce a wire mesh isolator (11) in a bore (9) of a substrate such as a heat shield (7) for a vehicle exhaust system. The rivet (13) comprises a unitary wire mesh structure (19) which has a collar (15) and a shank (17). The collar (15) has a higher density than the shank (17), e.g., the collar (15) has the density of the finished isolator (11). The rivet (13) is formed into the finished isolator (11) by compressing the shank (17) to form a second collar, while restraining the original collar (15) from substantially changing its shape. The rivet (13) can include a metal insert (23) which prevents the wire mesh of the finished isolator (11) from experiencing high levels of compression when the substrate is fastened to its supporting structure. The rivets (13) can be carried by a dispensing strip (31) and can be formed into the finished isolator (11) using forming equipment (39) whose dimensions are compatible with the limited space available with some substrates.

摘要: Systems and devices for endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms are described. Various configurations of coiled implants may be used as stenting devices or aneurysm coils. The implants include one or more filaments wound about a longitudinal axis to form a generally tubular shape. Lateral flexibility of the implants may be manipulated by, for example, adjusting a pitch between adjacent filaments, using different materials for the filaments, employing different filament cross-sectional shapes, grouping filaments into pluralities of varying flexibilities, and nesting inner coils within outer coils.

摘要: An engagement fitting comprises a hook that is integrally formed from a metal rod member. The rod member is bent into a generally U-shaped configuration. Bases then can be bent at approximately right angles at base ends of a pair of legs of the generally U-shaped hook. The bases extend to opposite sides from one another across a plane that is generally defined by the U-shaped configuration. The base is formed at least partially flat and can be provided with attachments such that the engagement fitting can be mounted on other members.

摘要: A hog-ring type clip-applying device having an upper jaw and a lower jaw with a clip receipt area defined therebetween to receive and clench a hog ring clip. The lower jaw is attached to a rear handle, and the upper jaw is attached to a diagonally disposed lever bar which is pivotally attached near its top to the lower jaw. The lever bar is pivotally attached at its bottom to a front handle member which has a guide opening disposed at the top thereof to receive therethrough the upper and lower jaws. A spring member urges the front handle member apart from the rear handle. A clip slide directs clips forward into the clip receipt area between the upper and lower jaws such that when the front and rear handles are moved together, the jaws grasp a clip from the forwardmost end of the clip slide and move forward through the guide opening in the top of the front handle to a position such that when the front and rear handles are further moved together, they clench the clip.

摘要: A package of ring fasteners comprising a multiplicity of similar ring fasteners each being made of a short length of metal wire of no smaller than 0.101 inch diameter material bent to provide a central bight portion and leading and trailing legs extending from opposite ends of said central bight portion terminating in spaced free ends. Each ring fastener is shaped so that the free ends of the leading and trailing legs are disposed substantially on opposite sides of a plane perpendicular to the direction of extent of a row of such ring fasteners releasably retained together so as to be handled and inserted as a unit into a tool magazine capable of being moved transversely from (1) a cooperating position with respect to a pair of movable tool jaws into (2) a spaced non-interfering position during which the remaining ring fasteners are separated from the leading ring fastener in interfaced relation with the pair of jaws enabling the pair of jaws to be moved toward one another to crimp the interfaced leading ring fastener into a closed ring configuration.

摘要: Continuous length wire is segmented into predetermined lengths having desired die-coined configurations at severed longitudinal ends in a wire-working machine of the invention. In a single step operation, such wire is simultaneously die-coined and severed to form a longitudinally contiguous pair of wire ends in order to produce such predetermined lengths with desired tapered convex shapes at each longitudinal end ready for use as shaped and severed so as to eliminate subsequent metal-forming steps and certain problems associated with severing practices of the prior art. In a specific embodiment of the fabrication process, coiled wire is straightened and then simultaneously die-coined and severed to form rigid rods with tapered end configurations which facilitate use as a connecting rod during assembly operations, e.g. in the assembly of a metal wire belt. The application also discloses specific embodiments of dies for such process, methods of producing such dies, and die-drive apparatus for moving such dies together for such single step operation and then apart for a subsequent operation.
