摘要: A stacked, collaborative engagement ammunition round is presented. The round includes plural stacked miniaturized projectiles where such projectiles separate after launch and then swarm as a group towards a target or targets. At launch, the projectiles may fly in a preselected formation, leader-follower towards the target. Or, the projectiles may deploy propellers, tri-copter or quad-copter vanes, and self steer swarming to the target. Each projectile has its own miniaturized guidance, navigation and control components, autopilot, cameras, transmitter, receiver, antennae, power source, sensors, fuzes and/or flex circuits.

摘要: A dynamic and interchangeable set of application behaviors is implemented upon the same underlying software engine. Downloadable data provider behavior descriptors configure the UI generation application dynamically on demand to meet needs that are unknown at ship time, or otherwise cannot be predicted in advance—inputs, formats, contents, and the optimal user interface or experience, all change over time. A data provider supplies the data source locations, data feeds, poll/pull intervals on feeds, parameter definitions, data binding definitions, lists, groups, UI templates, data transformation logic, resources, and UI templates to plug into the base application engine, which transforms the supplied data to create a UI experience tailored to match the appropriate events and available data over time. The base application engine is agnostic to both the data provider and the input data received.

摘要: A method of monetizing a software application for mobile devices. The initial step is developing a software application designed to operate on a mobile device, which is followed by determining a transaction unit for the application. The program proceeds by estimating the bandwidth usage of the application, determining a pricing model for the application and deploying the application, based on the pricing model. Finally, the program performs the step of monitoring consumer usage of the application and adjusting the pricing model as required.

摘要: An optical interface device is provided for use in an undersea optical transmission system that includes an undersea optical transmission path, a plurality of optical repeaters located along the optical transmission path, and a selected one of any of a plurality of different vendor supplied optical transmission terminals each of which has a vendor-specific interface. The optical interface device includes a signal processing unit providing signal conditioning to optical signals received from the vendor-specific interface of the selected optical transmission terminal so that the optical signals are suitable for transmission through the undersea optical transmission path. A gain monitoring arrangement is also provided for determining a change in gain provided by any one of the optical repeaters. The optical interface device also includes a processor for identifying a particular pump source that has failed from among a plurality of pump sources used to supply pump energy to the repeater based on the change in gain determined by the gain monitoring arrangement.

摘要: In an optical communication system that includes a transmitting terminal, a receiving terminal, and an optical transmission path optically coupling the transmitting and receiving terminals and having at least one rare-earth doped optical amplifier therein, a second optical amplifier is provided The second optical amplifier includes a first portion of the optical transmission path having a first end coupled to the transmitting terminal and a second end coupled to a first of the rare-earth doped optical amplifiers. In addition, the second optical amplifier includes a pump source providing pump energy to the first portion of the optical transmission path at one or more wavelengths that is less than a signal wavelength to provide Raman gain in the first portion at the signal wavelength.

摘要: The present invention describes a non-rotating display bicycle wheel cover assembly that remains absolutely upright in relation to the rotation of the bicycle wheel and in relation to a parked bicycle wheel. The invention consists of twin disk assemblies mounted to both sides of a conventional bicycle wheel and inturn to the front and rear of a bicycle frame. The disk assemblies are manufactured of lightweight inexpensive material that is formed to the convex shape of the outer surface of a bicycle wheel and includes an overmolded, captive friction bearing made of a high density, self lubricating plastic. A plastic retaining mechanism is secured to the outer disk fascia and a bicycle frame member to hold the disk in an upright position at all times whether the bicycle is in motion or in repose.

摘要: A method for entering a market with high barriers to entry and a plurality of proprietary business elements includes converting at least one of the business elements into a universal business element that can accept a wide variety of inputs from other business elements, while converting a remaining one of the plurality of business elements to commoditized business elements. For example, one exemplary embodiment of the present invention employs an optical repeater that can accept any existing submarine cable, in combination with an optical line interface terminal that can accept existing terrestrial terminal equipment. Regarding market division, this embodiment is specifically limited to spans of less than 5000 kilometers, and preferably between 350 and 4000 kilometers, thereby straddling both the long-haul and short-haul markets while providing highly desirable services and capability. By selecting this market segment, the embodiment achieves highly desirable economics without the usual concomitant high engineering costs.
