    摘要: A method and apparatus is disclosed for de-icing aircraft with hot water alone or with a mixture of hot water and a thixotropic de-icing fluid. The apparatus includes a centrifugal de-icing pump which is driven through a clutch only when de-icing fluid is being used thereby minimizing detrimental shear to the thixotropic fluid which shear causes fluid breakdown and reduction of viscosity. Several flow and pressure responsive controls are provided to control the engaging the disengaging of the clutch.The de-icing step may be followed by an anti-icing step if needed.

    摘要: A method for wirelessly transmitting data from an utility meter, such as an electric meter, is disclosed. A microprocessor housed inside an energy meter obtains readings of various power indicia, stores the readings, processes the buffer to determine an efficient means of formatting the data for transmission using a radio frequency communications link. The method examines the plurality of readings and determines if values can be communicated by transmitting an initial reading and followed by the difference of the next reading from the previous reading. A special indication is transmitted to turn ‘on’ compression and allow the receiver to propertly interpret received data. Other indicators are transmitted to turn ‘off’ compression, turn on compression for a pre-defined limited duration, or vary the range of the difference between readings.

    摘要: The invention describes a tracking, security and status monitoring system (TSS) and modular tracking and security device (MTSD). The tracking and security system includes at least one MTSD adapted for containment within a shipment within a vehicle and for operative communication with a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) (such as the global positioning system (GPS)), cellular networks and a monitoring system. In various embodiments, the MTSD is modular allowing for different sensor systems to be configured to the system, is operative to optimize power consumption and network data usage in the absence of a security event or inquiry from the monitoring system and/or allows the MTSD to recognize when it is within an airborne aircraft to comply with aviation regulations with respect to the operation of RF devices within aircraft. In addition, the system, by using both GNSS and cellular technology (ie. assisted GPS) is effective in being able to determine the real time position of a shipment from a greater number of positions and from deeper within shipment containers or vehicles.
