摘要： A positive charged electrostatic liquid developer consisting essentially of(A) a non-polar liquid having a Kauri-butanol value of less than 30,(B) thermoplastic resin particles, average by area particle size of less than 10 .mu.m,(C) a charge director compound, and(D) at least one inorganic acid having a solubility of at least 0.5% based on the weight of charge director compound in a mixture of (A) and (C) and represented by the formula:H.sub.x Y wherein x is an integer from 1-4 and is equal to the negative charge on the anion,Y is a moiety selected from the group consisting of Cl.sup.-, F.sup.-, NO.sub.3.sup.-, NO.sub.2.sup.-, PO.sub.4.sup.-3, SO.sub.4.sup.-2, SO.sub.3.sup.-2, ClO.sub.4.sup.-, and IO.sub.4.sup.-.The liquid developer is useful in copying, color proofing, digital color proofing, making lithographic printing plates, and resists.

摘要： System for replenishing liquid developer in equipment, such as a printer, whereby the percent of toner solids is maintained at about 0.5 to 4% by weight based on the total weight of liquid developer, the system comprising at least one liquid toner concentrate vessel containing aggregates of thermoplastic resin particles, median particle size (volume weighted) greater than 15 .mu.m, and with 90% of the particles (volume weighted) not less than 30 .mu.m, composed of 50 to 100% by weight of particles and 0 to 50% by weight carrier liquid; a liquid vessel containing carrier liquid, means communicating each of said vessels with a dispersing vessel containing high shearing or high impact means wherein contents of the liquid toner concentrate vessel and the liquid vessel are supplied thereto and the resin particles are dispersed in the carrier liquid to form particles having a median particle size (volume weighted) of less than 15 .mu.m, and with 90% of the particles (volume weighted) less than 30 .mu.m in an amount of about 0.5 to 20% by weight of resin particles and about 99.5 to 80% by weight carrier liquid said dispersion being supplied and metered into the supply vessel containing original liquid developer to maintain the desired weight of solids. The system is useful in copying, proofing, etc., equipment, and the liquid developer is useful for making copies, proofs, lithographic printing plates and resists.

摘要： A modular printing device has been developed that may be configured with different numbers of ink colors and ink types and with a different cross-process direction print resolution for each ink color and ink type. The modular printing device configurable to print with multiple combinations of ink colors and ink types at different print resolutions includes a plurality of printhead arrays, each printhead array being configured to eject ink onto an image receiving surface at a first print resolution in a cross-process direction, a plurality of ink supplies, each ink supply being configured to store ink and to provide ink to one printhead array in the plurality of printhead arrays, and a controller configured to operate the plurality of printhead arrays at one of at least two combinations of ink colors and ink types, each combination identifying an ink color or an ink type to be ejected by each printhead array and the controller operating the printhead arrays ejecting a same ink color or a same ink type at a print resolution in the cross-process direction corresponding to the number of printhead arrays ejecting the same ink color or the same ink type.

摘要： A liquid ink imaging member having a top outer imaging surface is provided for receiving image forming ink droplets from a printhead. The liquid ink imaging member includes (a) a substrate member; (b) at least one elastomeric layer formed over the substrate member and including the top outer imaging surface; and (c) a surface texture formed into the top outer imaging surface and comprising asperities spaced apart at most from about one-half to about one pixel spot size for providing contact angle hysteresis to pin image forming ink droplets received thereon, thereby preventing ink droplet drawback, and resulting in quality images.

摘要： An intermediate transfer member achieves substantially 100% toner transfer by containing a fluorocarbon elastomer containing less than 60 mole % vulnerable sites in the fluorocarbon chain. A high resolution image can be produced in an image developing system containing such a fluorocarbon elastomer. The fluorocarbon elastomer reduces the charge exchange between toner particles and the intermediate transfer member, and also reduces charge exchange between charge directors in liquid developers and the intermediate transfer member.
