    摘要: A semi-trailer landing gear speed reduction mechanism is provided which includes two horizontally disposed parallel spaced shafts with one shaft being rotated by a manual crank means and the other shaft connected to a mechanism for raising and lowering the landing gear. A two speed ratio for the mechanism is provided by having a fixed pair of gears secured to the driven shaft, a pinion gear fixed to the driving shaft and a gear having both internal and external threads supported on its internal threads on the driving shaft and in engagement with a pinion gear on the driven shaft. The drive shaft is axially shiftable between a first position in which the last said gear is free to rotate about the driving shaft and the pinion gear secured to the driving shaft is in driving engagement with a gear on the driven shaft, and a position in which the pinion gear on the driving shaft is in engagement with the internal threads on the floating gear which in turn drivingly engages with its external threads the pinion gear secured to the driven shaft.

    摘要: A voltage regulator is presented which is useful in controlling the recharging of the battery of a walk-behind lawn mower. The battery is used as an energizing source for cranking the piston engine of the mower. Once the engine is running it drives a small alternator whose rectified output is a low power capacity pulsating DC voltage capable of recharging the battery. To prevent overcharging of the battery, a voltage regulator module is introduced between the alternator output and the input to the battery. The voltage regulator includes a ripple smoothing capacitor shunted across the output of the alternator, a 3-terminal positive voltage regulator packaged in integrated circuit form having a voltage input terminal, a voltage output terminal and an output voltage adjustment terminal. A solid state diode placed in series between the voltage output terminal of the regulator and the positive input terminal of the battery prevents battery discharge through the regulator module when the engine is stopped. The output voltage adjustment terminal is referenced to that voltage with respect to ground which limits the emf across the battery to a value no greater than the fully charged condition.

    摘要: An improved safety boot or shoe is disclosed which integrally incorporates a cushioned metatarsal guard to protect the metatarsal region of the wearer's foot from injury caused by objects falling onto this region of the wearer's foot. The metatarsal guard is be assembled from different segments of materials in consecutive layer fashion, and in the preferred embodiment includes a segment of impact cushion material, a segment of cut-resistant material, a segment of force absorption material, and a segment of in-step cushion material. The segments are preferably adhesively affixed together to form a sandwich, with the sandwich then being interposed between the interior of the upper and the inner lining of the safety boot or shoe. In the preferred embodiment, a rigid toe is also included, with a portion of the metatarsal guard of the present invention overlying a portion of the rigid toe.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for verifying the accuracy of watt-hour meters at their operational site includes applying a phantom load to the meter and to a watt transducer. The relative watt hour readings of the meter are compared to the watt hours computed from the power to the watt transducer and represented as a percentage error of the meter. The phantom load is constituted by a loading transformer with optional load adjustments to take into account different loads to the meter and there are also adjustment means to take into consideration different meter characteristics. The meter watt hour reading is determined from an articulated light generating and receiving means mounted in alignment with the revolving disc so that light passes through the aperture in the disc to the receiving means and then signals the verifying apparatus to give an indication of the watt hour reading of the meter. Alternatively the reading is obtained manually.
