    摘要: A fresnel lens employs a design that reduces the transmission of stray light to a viewer located at its entrance pupil, said design requiring directional undercutting of selected facets of the lens so as to align the directionally undercut nonimaging surface parallel to the viewer's line of sight. The facets of the lens are arcuately shaped to yield a closer approximation to a glass lens. The lens is of particular use in a visual image display system.

    摘要: A microscope is disclosed as incorporating a light source which broadcasts light in succession through a holographic condenser lens, a transparent object support stage, an object to be magnified, a holographic objective lens, a holographic zoom lens assembly, a combination holographic redirector and magnifier lens, and a holographic eyepiece lens which may or may not be located on the same observational axis as the aforesaid holographic lenses. Said holographic eyepiece lens is constructed sufficiently large to accommodate the two eyes of a human observer at the same time, thereby providing binocular vision characteristics by a single lens. The aforementioned lenses associated therewith are also constructed to be optically complementary with said holographic eyepiece lens, so as to permit the latter to be used as a monocular lens.

In the broader sense, the invention disclosed determines and records whether the analog value of a test signal is within a preselected range of a preselected analog value. In the intended environment the preselected analog value denotes the centrex of a target. And, the preselected range is the area of proximity to the target that denotes a "hit", and is provided by a steady-state voltage that is taken in sum and difference format with the above-identified preselected analog value.

    摘要: An instrument for measuring various and sundry parameters that are analog to the aberrations that may exist in holographic lenses and other energy diffraction apparatus is disclosed as containing: a laser energy source; a pair of masks for controlling precisely the path of the light from said laser energy source, so that it may be used as a reference parameter; a rotatable mounting table for holding the holographic lens being tested in an appropriate position in the path of said reference laser light path; a microscope positioned to receive predetermined laser light rays that have been diffracted by the holographic lens being tested; indicia to measure the X, Y and Z axes distances between that point on the holographic lens being tested where the aforesaid laser light path passes therethrough and a given point position on or with respect to said microscope; and a support bench upon which all of the aforesaid elements may be mounted, so that their respective relative positions may be controlled in such manner that they form a unique geometrical configuration and combination.

    摘要: A pilot training simulator system is disclosed that simulates a predetermd vehicle and the operational environment pertinent to the vehicle in such manner that the pilot being trained in the system may be responsive to the realistic impressions effected by this combination. Included in the system is a first subsystem for producing a video readout of various terrain and target scenes, a simulated vehicle cockpit second subsystem to which the terrain and target scenes are provided, and a third subsystem for providing a motion picture to the windshield of the simulated vehicle cockpit. A motion generator imparts realistic movements to the first subsystem and simulated vehicle cockpit, and console controls permit the manual operational control of both.

    摘要: A method of making and utilizing a composite three layer specially polari motion target film for gunnery practice in which two vectograph films of 90.degree. variance in polarization and a black and white film comprise the composite film and are prepared by image transfer from a normal color movie film of a real world scene including background and target areas made with the target areas painted a color uncommon to the colors in the background. The method includes filtering out background and target areas respectively in image transfer to the respective vectograph films and in utilizing a filter rendering an appropriate gray value to the uncommon color target areas in the image transfer to the black and white film to cause the uncommon color targets to blend in with the background properly in the image obtained from the composite film. The result obtained is a complete motion picture film plus target areas, visible and invisible, of 90.degree. out of phase polarization, which targets are distinguishable by a polarizing filter and light receiver and hit indicator circuit provided on a weapon to be aimed at the target.

    摘要: A marksmanship training system is disclosed as comprising a viewing screenpon which a scenic picture having a predetermined target included therein is projected by a combination motion picture projector and film. A plurality of simulated rifles shoot laser light shots of different colors, respectively, at the target located within the image of said projected motion picture scene. A like plurality of receiver channels respond to the colors of said laser shots respectively, and as a result of being properly synchronized with said projector and film, determine and indicate the number of target "hits" for any given number of shots. A color television camera and video tape recorder monitor training exercises, and a video tape player permits the playback thereof for additional training purposes. Optionally, a suitable sound system may be used in conjunction with the aforesaid projector and film combination, so as to provide a more realistic training environment for the marksmen while they are shooting at the aforementioned viewing screen with said simulated rifles.

    摘要: An automatic adjustable radiant energy filter system adapted for protectinguman eyes (and other optical devices) from dangerous intensities of laser light or other types of radiation during experimentation therewith is disclosed as including a pair of relatively moving polarized filters, one of which is automatically positioned with respect to the other as a consequence of a unique photodetector and negative feedback system combination sensing and controlling the aforesaid laser light radiation that passes therethrough in accordance with a predetermined intensity level. Fixed filters may be selectively mounted in front of said polarized filters, in order to control the amount and frequency of ambient radiant energy supplied thereto; and a shutter and unique control subsystem therefor are combined with the aforesaid photodetector in such manner as to completely stop said laser light radiation from being supplied thereto whenever the intensity thereof exceeds a given dangerous level, thereby completely protecting the aforesaid human eyes therefrom, too.

The invention also contemplates intentional non-registration of the normal and polarized films by a number of frames selected to represent the correct target lead to properly hit the moving target.

    摘要: A vehicle simulator for training purposes enables the trainee to observe rnal effects through a simulated thermal sight by the utilization of a variety of paints whose pigments are selected based on their reflectivity to known wavelengths of light. A lamp bank is provided to illuminate a modelboard with various hues so painted as to provide reflectivity corresponding to thermal images. A monochrome television camera mounted on a movable gantry supplies images of said modelboard to a display in the vehicle simulator.
