摘要: A display system comprises a projector combined with a retro reflective screen and a viewer distance from the projector such that the observation angle is less than approximately 2-3 degrees. The brightness of the image on the screen for the proposed display system is increased by a factor of ˜100-500× as compared to traditional display systems with for an equivalent power/intensity light source.

摘要: A binocular display vergence correction system is described. The binocular display vergence correction system includes a binocular display, a display tracking system, and a controller. The binocular display, being pixelated, includes a left eye image display and a right eye image display. The display tracking system is configured to determine the position and angular orientation of the binocular display relative to an origin position and origin angular orientation. The controller, includes a processor, and is configured to correct the vergence of the binocular display based on an apparent viewing distance from an eye position of the binocular display to a target object to be viewed on a screen based on the determined position and angular orientation of the binocular display. A method of correcting vergence for a pixelated binocular display is also described.

摘要: In a head-mounted image display apparatus (1) for viewing images on a liquid crystal display means virtually enlarged by an enlarging lens while worn on the head, main apparatus (10) comprises a front case (2), which is positioned at the frontal region side when said main apparatus is worn on the head, and a back case (3), which is positioned at the occipital region. In addition, an air bag (8), which inflates to cause the frontal region to contact a buffer pad affixed to the inside surface of the front case (2), is provided on the inside of the back case (3). The back case (3) is able to rotate on connecting member 5 to the front case (2). Adjustment mechanisms for moving the optical system in the pupil distance direction and in the direction of the optical axes is disposed inside main apparatus (10), and the knobs therefor are centrally disposed on the front of main apparatus (10).

摘要: A visual display and helmet assembly is configured to function in the presence of a harsh environment, e.g., high wind, vibration and shock and strong ambient light. The visual display preferably includes a transmissive liquid-crystal display to reduce the display's size and to enhance the intensity of a virtual image. In addition, the display is preferably reconfigurable so that different display indicia can be programmed as desired. To reduce probability of injury to a user, the visual display is carried on the exterior of the helmet with its center of mass positioned substantially on the midsagittal plane of the user. In addition, a mount permits the visual display to detach from the helmet when it is subjected to forces above a predetermined threshold. The mount is also permits yielding movement between the visual display and the helmet to enhance viewing of the image.

摘要: A wide FOV imaging system (10) includes an objective lens (14), a convergent reflective element (18) positioned proximate an intermediate image (16) formed by the objective lens, and a re-imaging lens (20) for re-imaging the intermediate image. The present invention significantly improves image fidelity while minimizing optical components by utilizing a convergent reflective element proximate the intermediate image to reverse the propagation of aberrations produced by the objective lens (14) to, as a result, significantly cancel or reduce the aberrations contributed by the re-imaging lens.

摘要: Disclosed is a head-mount type display apparatus having an optical system which is of the back-irradiation type by which the user can see an extremely high-quality video image and by which the user makes only in-focus adjustment thereby improving operation convenience. The head-mount type display apparatus includes at least two optical systems each including a light source, a LCD through which the light from the light source is passed, a reflecting plate which reflects the light passing through the LCD, a screen on the back side of which the reflected light from the reflecting plate is focused to form an image and a lens by which the light from the screen is focused to form an image at a viewing point, and a head-mount type member for supporting the two optical systems which are opposed to left and right eyes. According to the preferred embodiment, interference and distortion in the projected images arising from the image of the edges of the LCDs is substantially reduced.
