    摘要: Embodiments of the invention provide a method of testing/adjusting magnetic disk devices, in which the method allows the tests/adjustments to be conducted by solving problems due to the data sizes and characteristics of test/adjustment programs. After assembly of a magnetic disk device, setup of various parameters, magnetic disk defect registration, and other test/adjustment steps are executed. Execution of the test/adjustment programs does not require a special test apparatus since they are executed in the magnetic disk device to be tested. In addition, the test/adjustment programs are formed up of multiple phases, and each phase is sequentially executed. Adoption of this program structure keeps the tests/adjustments clear from restrictions due to the data sizes and characteristics of the test/adjustment programs.

    摘要: A file is transferred directly between a parent magnetic-disk device and a child magnetic-disk device. In one embodiment, a parent magnetic-disk device has a host-mode execution program, whereas a child magnetic-disk device is capable operating in a device mode as is the case with an ordinary magnetic-disk device. The parent magnetic-disk device has an operating-mode-setting unit including a special-purpose jumper block. An MPU employed in the parent magnetic-disk device executes the host-mode execution program to put the parent magnetic-disk device in a host mode. At an activation time, the MPU refers to the logic of the special jumper block to start an operation in the host mode. The MPU controls the parent magnetic-disk device to directly transfer a file to the child magnetic-disk device. Thus, the file can be transferred between the parent and child magnetic-disk devices without intervention by a host computer.

    摘要: A file is transferred directly between a parent magnetic-disk device and a child magnetic-disk device.     摘要: Embodiments of the invention improve utility of a magnetic disk drive in which a head is retracted if the magnetic disk drive is in a dropping state. In one embodiment, an HDC/MPU provided in a magnetic disk drive judges whether the magnetic disk drive is in a dropping state based on an output from an acceleration sensor which may detect an acceleration and performs a retraction operation of a head. After the HDC/MPU judges that a drop is occurring, the HDC/MPU detects whether the drop judgment is incorrect according to whether a shock sensor detects a shock occurrence and changes the drop judgment condition based on a detection history of detected incorrect judgments.

    摘要: Embodiments of the invention provide an efficient layout of circuit elements on a circuit board. A hard disk drive (HDD) according to one embodiment of the present invention is provided with a circuit board. The circuit board has an IC of HDC, MPU, and R/W channel, an IC of MDU, an SPM aperture, and a carriage bearing aperture. The IC is provided on the circuit board on the side where the center of a carriage bearing protrusion is positioned with respect to a central line AB parallel to the short sides of the surface of the housing and on the side opposite to the side where the center of the carriage bearing protrusion is positioned with respect to a central line CD parallel to the long sides of the surface of the housing. The IC of MDU is provided on the circuit board on the side where the center of the carriage bearing protrusion is positioned with respect to the central line CD and at a position between the center of an SPM protrusion and the center of the carriage bearing protrusion in the longitudinal direction of the surface of the housing.

    摘要: An electronic calculator apparatus includes a keyboard for inputting numerical and function data, a printer for printing out on a record medium a sequence of data input by the keys and calculation results related to the data, and a printer controller for determining the content and format of the data printed out. The printer controller has the capability of recognizing when two successive function keys are actuated, and instructs the printer to print out on the record medium two successive function symbols without any numerical data symbols therebetween corresponding to symbols on the successively actuated function keys. Accordingly, an operator may study the record medium and locate amended function input data in regions where two function symbols ar juxtaposed.

A hard disk drive (HDD) according to one embodiment of the present invention is provided with a circuit board.
