摘要： An image formation apparatus is provided having a continuous form photosensitive member positioned to move along a pre-defined transfer path. An image is exposed on to a portion of the photosensitive member along the transfer path. A heat developer heats the exposed image portion and intercepts the heat to an unexposed portion of the photosensitive member. The heat developer has a cylindrical housing having a heated portion arranged along a longitudinal axis of the cylindrical housing and a heating element in surface contact with and for heating exposed portions of the photosensitive member. The cylindrical housing also has an unheated portion arranged along the longitudinal axis of the cylindrical housing and separated from the heated portion by a thermally insulative material. A thermal shield is selectively movable along the transfer path in synchronism with and in the direction of transfer of the photosensitive member between a heat shielding position and a non-heat shielding position for protecting and preserving unexposed portions of the photosensitive member. The thermal shield has a curved heat shield position adjacent to the heating element and movable concentrically about the longitudinal axis between the heat shielding position between the heating element and photosensitive member and the non-heat shield position.

摘要： An image forming apparatus which is able to form either single or double sided copies on a recording medium while achieving an excellent image quality in either a matted or glossy finish. The image forming apparatus includes a fixing portion in which a first roller includes a first temperature and hardness for forming a matted image, whereas a second roller includes a higher temperature and hardness for forming a glossy image. Alternatively, or in addition, to different hardness and temperatures, the recording medium can be conveyed at a first speed to form a matted image, and a slower speed to form a glossy image. The image forming apparatus further includes an inverse and re-fixing sub-mode, which utilizes an inverting and returning passage, for reducing the curl in a recording medium, and thus also reducing the instances in which clogging takes place. The inverting and returning passage has a length sufficient to accommodate a plurality of recording mediums. Moreover, the image forming apparatus is provided with first and second discharge passages so that if one passage is clogged, the other can be used to discharge recording mediums. A switching means selects, based on detection sensors, through which discharge passage a recording medium is fed. The operations of the image forming apparatus are coordinated by a control unit.

摘要： An image forming apparatus include a photosensitive medium having light sensitive microcapsules thereon which are pressed against a receiving medium in order to transfer a latent image from the photosensitive medium to a developed image on the receiving image. A pressure developing device is employed which generates a load only during that period when the image is being developed on the receiving medium. A detachable container includes a cartridge for storing unexposed photosensitive medium and a cassette for storing the receiving medium includes detectors for determining the size of the receiving medium. A thermal treatment mechanism fixes the images formed on the receiving medium and imparts a glossy finish.

摘要： An image forming device including a photosensitive member, a development device and a thermal treating device is provided to form an image on a sheet of paper. The development device uses pressure rollers to develop the paper under pressure and includes a mechanism for varying the pressure. A movable shutter controls the amount of radiant heat provided by the thermal treatment device. When the power is turned off, the shutter closes to prevent further heating. The image forming device also includes a device for removing gases formed during the image forming process.

摘要： A color image forming apparatus includes a primary transport system for moving a photosensitive receiving member of continuous length, which is designed to receive the exposure of an original image to be reproduced forming a latent image of the original at an exposure station. The photosensitive receiving member is transported through the exposure station at a maintained constant rate of movement while assuring the transport of the photosensitive receiving member through downstream stations, involving development of the latent image and transfer of the developed image to an image receiving medium, is accomplished without causing slack, wrinkling or jamming of the photosensitive receiving member in the apparatus or distortion of the developed image during its transfer to an image receiving medium. The control of the transport of the photosensitive receiving member through the apparatus may be accomplished with a combination of a primary transport system and a secondary transport system respectively positioned in the region of the pressure transfer section and downstream of the exposure station to transport the photosensitive receiving member at different rates of movement. Conflict due to different transport rates applied to the photosensitive receiving member is eliminated by establishing a differential motion buffer in the transport path between the primary transport system and the secondary transport system. In this connection, the differential motion buffer provides for slack compensation or tension biasing in conjunction with any slack developed in the transport of the photosensitive receiving member through the apparatus.

摘要： A recording medium carrier system of an image forming apparatus is constituted by independent units as a paper supply cassette, a paper feed unit, a transfer unit, a fixing unit, and a paper ejecting unit. An intermediate transfer unit in the transfer unit is provided with an intermediate transfer belt to which a toner image formed on a photoconductive drum is primarily transferred at a primary transfer position and which secondarily transfers the toner image on a recording medium at a secondary transfer position, and a driving roller for circulating the intermediate transfer belt. The primary transfer position is arranged close to the driving roller.
