    摘要: A germanium detector measures an energy spectrum of gamma ray flux. The detector includes a copper cooling layer continuous over a periphery of the columnar germanium crystal. The cooling layer reduces current leakage induced by heat, so that high energy gamma rays can be precisely detected. A combination of a plurality of germanium crystal bodies connected one another to form the germanium crystal of at least 20 cm leads to a more precise detection of high energy gamma rays.

    摘要: A clinical thermometer for detecting an infrared ray radiated from a tympanic membrane eliminates thermometric errors caused by differences from one patient to another and variations in thermometric operations, to always perform stable, accurate thermometry. A clinical thermometer converts infrared radiation from a substantially tympanic membrane into an electrical signal to perform temperature detection, the thermometer including an almost cylindrical probe body. A constricted diameter portion formed at one end of the probe body can be inserted into an external auditory meatus and deformed so as to conform to a shape of the external auditory meatus. An infrared sensor incorporated in the constricted diameter portion is thereby arranged to receive radiation from the tympanic membrane.

    摘要: Tuning indicator apparatus is provided for use with a frequency synthesizer tuner of the type having a phase-locked loop including a reference oscillator, a variable frequency oscillator to produce a local oscillating signal, a programmable frequency divider coupled to the variable frequency oscillator for dividing the frequency of the local oscillating signal by a variable dividing ratio to produce a frequency-divided oscillating signal, a phase comparator for comparing the frequency-divided oscillating signal to the output of the reference oscillator to produce an error signal, and a feedback circuit for feeding back the error signal from the phase comparator to the variable frequency oscillator to adjust the frequency of the local oscillating signal and thereby establish a tuning condition of the tuner. The tuning indicator apparatus includes a counter for counting counter pulses supplied thereto, the count of this counter determining the dividing ratio of the programmable frequency divider. An indicating circuit is responsive to a change in at least a predetermined value of the count of this counter to indicate that the count has changed and, thus, that the tuning condition of the tuner has changed. In a preferred embodiment, a sound generator is provided to generate an audible indication of a change in the tuning condition.

A method for determining a photonuclear reaction cross section using the germanium detector enables measurement of the energy dependence of a photonuclear reaction cross section at high resolution. The method employs a white gamma ray flux radiated to a nuclide. The germanium detector measures the spectrum of a transmission gamma ray flux transmitted through the nuclide. Peaks are specified in the obtained spectrum. An atomic nucleus can be transformed using a monochromatic gamma ray flux having an energy level corresponding to the peak.
