摘要: Methods and systems are provided for cyclical enrichment, especially of rare earth elements and isotopes. A tube, or ampule, optionally with one crucible, or with two coaxially opposite crucibles in fluid communication, is used to hold a source material in vacuum and irradiate the source material to enrich it with product material. Following the irradiation of the source substance (e.g., Yb, enriched with 176Yb) to yield the product substance (e.g., 177Lu), the mixture may be sublimated to remove most of the source substance and concentrate the product material, e.g., by heating the lower part and cooling the upper part of the tube, to condense sublimated source material at the top of the tube. Consecutively, the concentrated product substance may be purified, while the solidified source structure may be reused in irradiation/sublimation cycles to further enrich and concentrate the product material.

摘要: A neutron activator includes a neutron source and a first reflector-moderator. The neutron source has a housing extending along a longitudinal axis (B). A metallic target as part of the neutron source is provided to produce neutrons through the interaction with a proton beam, the target having at least one plate arranged transversally with respect to the longitudinal axis (B). The neutron source also includes a cooling circuit to cool the metallic target. The first reflector-moderator has an activation area configured to accommodate the neutron source and the material to be activated.

摘要: Described are methods for preparing radionuclides, such as radionuclides having a high specific activity. The disclosed methods include irradiating target nuclide materials, in solution, with a neutron source. The radionuclides can be separated from the target nuclide material by providing a solid carbon nanostructured material, as a suspension of solids, proximal to the target nuclide material in solution and using the recoil to drive adsorption of the radionuclide onto the solid carbon nanostructured material to transfer the radionuclides from the liquid phase (in solution) to the solid phase (adsorbed to the suspended solid carbon nanostructured material). One or more surfactants can be incorporated into the solution to facilitate formation of a stable suspension of the solid carbon nanostructured material.

摘要: A radionuclide production method and system makes it possible to separate a target radionuclide generated by irradiation with a radioactive ray, and to reduce the generation of a radioactive waste along with the separation. The radionuclide production method includes irradiating, with a radioactive ray, a target material in which a starting material nuclide is present, to generate a radionuclide; and eluting the radionuclide into a liquid by bringing the target material into contact with the liquid. The radionuclide production system includes a target material having a starting material nuclide; an irradiation unit for the target material that generates a radionuclide; and an elution unit that elutes the radionuclide into a liquid by bringing the target material into contact with the liquid. For both the radionuclide production method and system, the target material is a porous body or a granular material through which the liquid is passable.
