摘要: Darkness correction is carried out effectively. A printing method is provided with the following steps: A step of, when a plurality of nozzles arranged in a predetermined direction for each of a plurality of colors of ink is moved in a movement direction intersecting with the predetermined direction while ejecting ink of the plurality of different colors, correcting a darkness of only a predetermined color, of the plurality of colors, for each dot row region so as to inhibit darkness non-uniformities between dot row regions that are formed on a medium by dot rows in the movement direction of the nozzles, and a step of performing printing by moving the plurality of nozzles while ejecting ink.

摘要: In printing of multi-level darkness/lightness of a certain color, which is performed with a dark ink and a light ink of the certain color, graininess is improved. A printing method includes generating a plurality of types of drive signals, and ejecting the dark ink and the light ink from a head, an amount of each ink varying for each dot tone value. In generation of a plurality of the types of the drive signals, a plurality of the types of drive signals are generated, where a waveform section that is for the dark ink of the certain color and that corresponds to a minimum dot tone value in ejection of ink is different from a waveform section that is for the light ink of the certain color and that corresponds to the minimum dot tone value, and where a waveform section that is for the dark ink of the certain color and that corresponds to a maximum dot tone value is different from a waveform section that is for the light ink of the certain color and that corresponds to the maximum dot tone value. In ejection of the dark ink and the light ink from the head, a drive signal that is generated based on a type of the dot tone value designated according to a size of a to-be-formed dot and based on a type of the ink is applied to an element that is provided on the head and that performs an operation for ejecting ink.

摘要: The invention relates to a printing method that repeats in alternation a carrying operation of carrying a medium in a carrying direction, and a formation operation of forming an image on the medium by ejecting ink from a plurality of nozzles that are aligned in the carrying direction and that move in a movement direction. In this method: (a) a first blank section arranged along the movement direction is detected from an image to be printed in a certain formation operation; (b) a second blank section arranged along the movement direction is detected from an image to be printed in a next formation operation; and (c) if the first and second blank sections are detected and a width in the carrying direction of an image to be printed in the next formation operation downstream in the carrying direction from the second blank section is smaller than a width in the carrying direction of the first blank section, then the width in the carrying direction of the first blank section is shortened to print, in the certain formation operation, an image to be printed between the first blank section and the second blank section.

摘要: A printing method includes performing a first printing process that alternately repeats a first carrying operation and a dot forming operation and performing a second printing process that alternately repeats a second carrying operation and the dot forming operation when printing an image at an edge portion of a medium upstream in a carrying direction. The first carrying operation is an operation that carries the medium by a first carrying amount in the carrying direction, and the dot forming operation is an operation that forms a dot line on the medium by ejecting ink from a plurality of nozzles aligned in the carrying direction, a plurality of the nozzles includes a nozzle opposed to a convex portion, of a supporting member, that is in contact with the carried medium and a nozzle opposed to a concave portion, of the supporting member, that is not in contact with the carried medium. The second carrying operation is an operation which carries the medium by a second carrying amount smaller than the first carrying amount. The printing method performs a third carrying operation after a certain dot forming operation in the case where if the first carrying operation is performed after the certain dot forming operation, a most-upstream nozzle positioned most upstream in the carrying direction of a plurality of the nozzles is positioned more upstream in the carrying direction than a lower edge's most-downstream position that is a position of the edge portion of the medium at the time the medium is carried to a most downstream side in the carrying direction, and if the third carrying operation and the dot forming operation are performed after the certain dot forming operation, and the second printing process is performed thereafter, a dot line to be formed more upstream than the lower edge's most-downstream position of the medium that is carried so that the edge portion is positioned more upstream in the carrying direction than the lower edge's most-downstream position can be formed without using the nozzle opposed to the convex portion. Here, the third carrying operation is an operation which carries the medium by the third carrying amount larger than the second carrying amount.
