    摘要: The cooling circuit of an internal combustion engine cooling system wherein the coolant is allowed to boil and the vapor used as a vehicle for removing heat from said engine is equipped with an external reservoir and arranged so that the amount of liquid coolant in the cooling circuit of the system can be varied in a manner which both assists in controlling the boiling point of the coolant and prevents the development of negative pressures which invite the invasion of non-condensible matter such as atmospheric air.

    摘要: In order to diagnose a malfunction an evaporative cooling system upon the engine being initially started or in response to a demand for engine operation (e.g. cranking of the engine) the outputs of a sensor or sensors are monitored and diagnostic check of the system performed to determine if the sensors and or valves of the system are operating properly. In the event that a malfunction is indicated a warning is issued and/or the operation of the engine prevented.

    摘要: A novel optical compensation film is disclosed. The film comprises a transparent film having a ratio Re/Rth(450 nm) of Re and Rth at 450 nm of 0.4 to 0.95 times as large as Re/Rth(550 nm) at 550 nm, having Re/Rth(650 nm) at 650 nm of 1.05 to 1.93 times as large as Re/Rth(550 nm), and having Rth at 550 nm ranging from 70 nm to 400 nm, where “Re” is an in-plane retardation and “Rth” is a thickness-direction retardation; and an optically anisotropic layer having an in-plane optical anisotropy, formed of a composition comprising a liquid-crystalline compound, in which molecules of the liquid-crystalline compound are fixed in an alignment state, wherein the direction of orthogonal projection, onto a plane of the transparent film, of a mean orientation direction of molecular symmetry axes of the liquid-crystalline compound at the interface on the transparent film side is 45° with respect to the in-plane slow axis of the transparent film.

    摘要: A polymer film is used as an optical compensatory sheet or a support thereof. The polymer film contains a rod-like compound. The rod-like compound in the form of a solution gives an ultraviolet absorption spectrum. In the spectrum, the wavelength of λmax at the maximum absorption peak is shorter than 250 nm. The spectrum of the rod-like compound is measured when the rod-like compound is in the form of solution. The polymer film has an Rth retardation value of Rth450 measured at the wavelength of 450 nm in the range of 30 to 160 nm. The polymer film also has an Rth retardation value of Rth590 measured at the wavelength of 590 nm in the range of 50 to 200 nm. The values of the Rth450 and Rth590 satisfy the condition of Rth590-Rth450≧2 nm.
