摘要:
A combustion state-detecting system, for internal combustion engines, has a crank angle sensor. The crank angle sensor generates a crank angle signal with a predetermined period shorter than a firing period of the engine whenever the crankshaft rotates through a predetermined angle. A value of the rotational speed of the engine is detected whenever the crank angle signal is generated. A first average value of the detected engine rotational speed is calculated over a period of one rotation of the crankshaft, followed by calculating a second average value of the first average value over every firing period, to thereby calculate a rate of variation in the second average value over every firing period. The rate of variation is compared with a predetermined value, to determine whether or not the engine is in a degraded state of combustion.
摘要:
A combustion state-detecting system for an internal combustion engine calculates a first average speed by averaging the rotational speed of the engine over a time period corresponding to duration of one stroke of a cylinder, and a second average speed by averaging the rotational speed of the engine over a time period corresponding to duration of one cycle of all strokes of the cylinder. The system calculates a difference between the first average speed and the second average speed, and determines based on the difference whether or not the combustion state of the engine is abnormal.

A combustion state-detecting system for internal combustion engines has a crank angle sensor which generates a crank angle signal with a predetermined period shorter than a firing period of the engine whenever the crankshaft rotates through a predetermined angle. A value of the rotational speed of the engine is detected whenever the crank angle signal is generated. A first average value of the detected engine rotational speed is calculated over every period of one rotation of the crankshaft, followed by calculating a second average value of the first average value over every firing period, to thereby calculate a rate of variation in the second average value over every firing period. Values of the rate of variation are averaged over a predetermined number of ignition cycles of the engine, to obtain a third average value. A cumulative value of the absolute value of a difference between the third average value and the rate of variation is calculated over the above predetermined number of ignition cycles. The cumulative value is compared with a predetermined value, to determine that the engine is in a degraded state of combustion, when the cumulative value exceeds the predetermined value.

A device according to an aspect of the invention detects abnormality of spark plugs of an internal combustion engine. A value related to electric resistance across a gap between electrodes of each spark plug is measured. Next, it is determined whether or not the measured value, related to the electric resistance, assumes a value indicating that the electric resistance is below a predetermined value, when the engine is determined to be in a non-combustive state. The spark plug is determined to be abnormal when it is determined that the measured value, related to the electric resistance, assumes the value indicating that the electric resistance is below the predetermined value. A misfire-detecting system according to another aspect of the invention incorporates the above device.

A misfire-detecting system for an internal combustion engine in which a value of sparking voltage is detected, which is generated across a spare plug when high voltage is generated by an ignition device in response to generation of an ignition command signal. When a time period over which the detected value of sparking voltage exceeds a predetermined reference voltage value exceeds a predetermined time period value, the system determines that a misfire has occurred in the engine. A recharging command signal is generated for applying high voltage to the spark plug, after generation of the ignition command signal. As a result, a misfire can be accurately detected.

A fuel supply control system which controls an amount of fuel supplied to an internal combustion engine. An ECU detects a value related to an amount of combustion ions generated within cylinders. The detected value is compared with a predetermined value, and the amount of fuel supplied to the engine is corrected based upon the comparison result, when the engine is in a transient operating condition, such as acceleration and deceleration, whereby the responsiveness of the air-fuel ratio feedback control is enhanced to improve drivability and exhaust emission characteristics.
摘要:
A misfire-detecting system detects a misfire occurring in an internal combustion engine. A value of sparking voltage for discharging a spark plug of the engine is detected. The detected value of the sparking voltage is compared with a first predetermined value. A degree to which the detected value of the sparking voltage exceeds the first predetermined value is measured. The measured degree is compared with a second predetermined value. It is determined based upon results of the latter comparison whether or not a misfire occurred in the engine. According to a first aspect of the invention, the second predetermined reference value is set based upon detected values of operating parameters of the engine. According to a second aspect of the invention, the determination of occurrence of a misfire is inhibited when the engine is in a predetermined operating condition.
摘要:
A high probability of detecting an erroneous misfire occurs when combustion becomes unstable during jolt control. Therefore, during jolt control the reliability of the misfire detection system is degraded. As a result, the misfire detection system is inactivated during jolt control by discontinuing the misfire detection, or by deliberately deeming no misfire has occurred if jolt control has occurred. Alternatively, the misfire detection sensitivity is masked during jolt control.
