    摘要: System(s) and method(s) are provided to control access to a femtocell as part of handover of a mobile device from macrocell to femtocell. Macro network platform issues a handover (HO) request towards femto network platform and a single virtual femto node, which represents a plurality of femto access points (APs). Location estimate(s) for the mobile device drives selection of a target femto AP. Selection of the target AP results in acceptance of the HO request. The mobile device also can request macro-to-femto (MTF) handover. HO neighbor list(s) is generated by decoding a network-issued identifier for each femto APs in a set of femtocells, and selectively ranking each femto AP based at least on channel quality; access privileges of the mobile device to each of the identified femto APs determines selectivity. Validation of mobile device's access right(s) drives acceptance of the MTF HO request to a top ranked femto AP.

    摘要: System(s) and method(s) are provided to manage packet data protocol (PDP) contexts upon cellular-to-femto handover, wherein femto network has disparate capabilities to support applications with distinct access point names (APNs) and quality of service (QoS) profiles. Based at least on activity factors of applications associated with PDP contexts, a QoS-based ranking of PDP contexts, and subscriber input, cellular network platform selects active PDP contexts to retain and suspend upon handover. A group of active PDP contexts is handed off in accordance with femto coverage capability, with remaining active PDP contexts suspended during handover. When a suspended PDP context, and application associated therewith, is resumed through femto coverage, a PDP context modification is conducted with a new APN and the application is routed to a corresponding femto gateway node and application server. Additionally, femto network platform performs a radio access bearer reconfiguration to meet QoS requirements of the resumed PDP context.

    摘要: Wireless network nodes are configured to transmit a request to update the quality of service associated with an existing radio access bearer. In response to the request, the radio access bearer is updated without tearing down the established radio access bearer. Some applications can be associated with one or more quality of service indicia, so that as service demands change in use of a single application, requests for quality of service updates can be transmitted by, for example, a mobile station or other network nodes. Updates can be initiated by other user equipment or by network nodes such as gateway GPRS support nodes. Service interruptions can be reduced by preserving a radio access bearer (RAB), which is particularly useful for a stationary mobile station that continues to communicate with the same serving GPRS support node.

    摘要: A mobile station re-tries initiating a call after a previous failure of a call to that number due to poor air interface signal communication. When the mobile station detects such a call failure, it records in memory an indication of the call failure and the number that was called. Once the mobile station has found and registered with a base station with which it is determined that good signal communication can be established, the presence of a call failure indication in memory causes the processing logic to direct the mobile station to re-try the failed call.

    摘要: A method of registering a mobile device in a mobile telecommunications network comprises the device's receiving power from a power source and transmitting a registration request signal including mobile device identification data, an associated mobile network determining a set of latitude and longitude location coordinates for the transmitting mobile device, comparing the determined set of latitude and longitude location coordinates with a table for matching the location coordinates with a service area code, determining a service area code responsive to the comparison, and storing the service area code, the mobile device identification data, the determined service area code and a location area code of the associated public mobile network for registering the mobile device in the associated mobile network. A related mobile device comprises a power source, a processor for determining whether power has been actuated, a global positioning system for determining a set of latitude and longitude location coordinates for the transmitting mobile device, the processor for comparing the determined set of latitude and longitude location coordinates with a table for matching the location coordinates with a service area code, determining a service area code responsive to the comparison and storing the service area code in memory of the mobile device.
