摘要: The present invention provides a replication device for delivering a replicating material to a surface. The device includes an extrusion piston slidably received therein and movable to a dispensing position for expelling the replicating material though an outlet. The device further includes an actuator, wherein the actuator produces stress waves so as to temporarily reduce the viscosity of the material during delivery of said material. Also provided is a method and kit for using the device for obtaining a replica of a surface.

摘要: A passive emergency water system for cooling the atmosphere inside containment in a water-cooled nuclear reactor comprises an elevated in-containment water reservoir connected to an in-containment heat exchanger. The heat exchanger promotes natural convection of containment atmosphere and heat transfer. Heat from containment atmosphere is transferred to the reservoir by a convective return flowpath. The heat exchanger is preferably an elevated tube bank Baffle walls can be used inside containment to promote circulation of containment atmosphere. In one embodiment, the reservoir tank is closed with respect to containment atmosphere and is vented through the containment wall to the external atmosphere. In an alternative embodiment, the reservoir tank can be of a sufficient volume to absorb heat from containment as sensible heat without boiling.

摘要: An apparatus for cleaning heat exchanger tubes and in particular an improved collection system for nuclear generator cleaning and blasting media and deposit material. A suction line having a downwardly directed suction inlet is effective to vacuum airborne media and debris in said chamber and vacuum media and debris deposited on the bottom of said chamber below said suction inlet. A hopper, air jet and shaker means are provided to transport deposited media and debris toward the suction inlet. Breaker and partition means are provided to reduce back-streaming of debris into heat exchanger tubes.

摘要: An electron gun which is rugged, provides good thermal decoupling of the hode, permits precise alignment of the electrodes to be achieved easily and allows geometric changes to be carried out with ease is described. In the cathode assembly three set screws and a split ring of insulating material are used to secure the cathode. Alignment is achieved by suitably adjusting the set screws and because contact can be limited to the three set screws thermal coupling is reduced. Similarly a Whenelt electrode is secured and aligned by a further group of set screws. Finally, the anode is secured to replaceable stand-offs by means of screw passing through oversized holes in an anode plate. The oversized holes permit easy alignment and the use of stand-offs permits the spacing between anode and cathode to be changed as desired by replacing the stand-offs.

摘要: A method of generating a computed tomographic image of a region-of-interest of a sample is described in which only the region-of-interest need be scanned, i.e. it is not necessary to scan the entire sample. Reference data for the region-of-interest of a complete reference object that is a relatively good match to the sample outside the region-of-interest and has a known attentuation distribution inside the region-of-interest is first obtained. This can be done by scanning only the region-of-interest of an actual complete reference object or by constructing a digital image of the reference object and mathematically scanning only the region-of-interest of the image. Then the region-of-interest of the sample is scanned to obtain sample data from which the reference data is subtracted. A differential image is reconstructed from the differential data thus obtained. The method allows the use of equipment which is simpler, more compact and less costly than conventional CT equipment.
