    摘要: Disclosed is a novel high temperature coating system comprised of two successively deposited layers of different respective materials which may be applied to turbine engine components to provide improved oxidation and corrosion resistance. The second applied layer is a composition having the general formula MCrAlY wherein M is a solid solution of molybdenum in nickel, cobalt or nickel plus cobalt. The first applied layer or interlayer, which is applied directly to the turbine engine component, is an aluminum coating.

    摘要: Herein disclosed is a rocket assisted projectile having forwardly extending central propulsion nozzle and two auxiliary nozzles, an igniter mounted on the cartridge, and booster and propellant charges so related to the igniter and the inverted central nozzle that ignition of the propellant charge opens up the auxiliary nozzles and builds up pressure between the base of the cartridge and a rigid wall in the rocket motor, thereby effecting cartridge-projectile separation. Also disclosed are improvements comprising, inter alia, a plastic ogive providing a firing pin mounting and an integral band, and improvements in impact fuze and spitback housing constructions.

    摘要: A turbomachine rotor comprises a compressor assembly of prebalanced bladed hubs telescoped over a central shaft. The hubs are held against an end flange by a suitable retaining nut with a first predetermined axial preload and then statically and dynamically balanced as a unit. A compressor turbine hub is prebalanced and then telescoped over the central shaft. The turbine hub is secured against the aft face of the compressor hub by an additional retaining nut with a second predetermined preload. The entire assembly may then be statically and dynamically balanced. The axial preloads are selected so that the compressor hubs are held with sufficient axial force in the final assembly. This type of construction permits the turbine hub to be removed from the shaft for replacement or repair without disturbing the balance of the compressor assembly.

    摘要: A gas turbine engine has an annular bleed manifold for cabin pressurization and other purposes. The bleed manifold is positioned at a point intermediate the ends of the engine combustor to utilize the highest available engine pressure for these purposes. A deflector in the form of a continuous band or a series of chutes permits entry of air through openings into the manifold but deflects particulate matter away from the opening thereby insuring clean cabin pressurization air.

    摘要: The disclosed system functions to generate ozone with improved efficiency. Oxygen gas is passed through an electric field, and while in the field is irradiated with brief bursts of high energy electrons. This produces a large number of secondary electrons in the gas and these electrons taken energy from the electric field. The secondary electrons efficiently dissociate oxygen molecules from the gas, thereby producing oxygen atoms which immediately combine with oxygen to form ozone. The electric field is pulsed on during the electron beam irradiation, and thereafter pulsed off in order to maximize energy deposition by electrons and minimize energy deposition by ions. The disclosed system may also be used to generate other substances in gas phase ionic or free-radical reactions in which a suitable gas or mixture of gases is passed through the discharge and made to react in it. For example, the system can be used to produce hydrogen peroxide or hydrazine from suitable gas mixtures of H2O + O2 and NH3 + N2, respectively.
