摘要: It is desirable to prevent the unintended generation of electricity by permanent magnet motors in a submersible pumping system used to recover fluids from a wellbore. A pumping system designed to prevent the unintended generation of electricity includes a pump intake that provides a path for the wellbore fluids to enter the pump. The pumping system further includes a flow control valve assembly connected to the pump. The flow control valve assembly has a sliding sleeve and a valve control mechanism that moves the sliding sleeve between open and closed positions on the intake of the pump.

The method further includes generating, by a processing device, a steering proposal based at least in part on the well plan and the well data. The method further includes drilling, with the wellbore operation system, at least a portion of the wellbore based at least in part on the steering proposal.

摘要: A side pocket mandrel for use within a gas lift system has a central body that includes a central bore and a valve pocket that is offset from the central body. The valve pocket includes a power landing in the valve pocket and configured to provide an electrical connection to the electric gas lift valve and a conductor connected to the power landing and configured to provide electric power to the power landing. The side pocket mandrel further includes a pneumatic gas lift valve installed within the valve pocket and an electric gas lift valve installed within the valve pocket. The electric gas lift valve and pneumatic gas lift valve can be installed or retrieved from the valve pocket using wireline-based tools without removing the side pocket mandrel from the well.

摘要: A method and apparatus for selectively connecting a first fluid communication region to a further fluid communication region are disclosed. The apparatus comprises an elongate housing, locatable in a wellbore, comprising a first end portion associated with a first fluid communication region; a sheath member axially slidable within the housing and biased towards the first end portion via at least one biasing element; and an elongate shuttle member axially slidable within the housing and slidably locatable in a sealed relationship or non-sealed relationship with the sheath member; wherein the biasing element provides a predetermined biasing force that determines a threshold pressure which must be exceeded by a fluid pressure in the first fluid communication region to permit axial movement of the sheath member away from the first fluid communication region or towards a further fluid communication region.

摘要: A method for stabilizing asphaltenes in petroleum feedstocks such as crude oil includes adding to the feedstock an effective amount of an additive containing at least one waste plastic. Suitable waste plastics include, but are not necessarily limited to, polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, polystyrene, polycarbonate, polyamide, and polyurethane, and combinations thereof. By “stabilizing” is meant keeping the asphaltenes in solution in the petroleum feedstocks.
