The portion of the profile of an asymmetric cam which controls the closure of a valve in an internal combustion engine is steep enough to ensure that, when the engine speed exceeds a threshold value, the valve closes, without contact between the valve and the cam , within a period of time which is substantially fixed as the engine speed varies, so that the angle of the cam upon closure increases with increases in the rate of rotation of the cam. The active surface of a bucket-type tappet interposed between the cam and the valve has a flat portion substantially perpendicular to the line of movement of the tappet and a curved portion which is connected to the flat portion and has a uniform radius of curvature so as to have a convex region facing the cam.

An internal combustion engine is provided with a methane feed system including a plurality of methane injection devices respectively associated with the various cylinders of the engine. The methane injection devices are mounted within respective seats communicating with a distributing conduit or rail for feeding methane. The seats for the injection devices in the rail are formed in an auxiliary body separate from the intake manifold and the head of the engine. An electronic control unit provides for the control of the injection devices on the basis of signals indicative of the parameters of operation of the engine so as to carry out the methane injection at each cylinder when the rotational speed of the engine is lower than a predetermined threshold when the intake valve of the cylinder is open.

A device for injecting current at radio frequency into electric wiring, comprises a guiding structure (10) of an electrically conductive material consisting of a tapered shell (12) wherein a central vertical wall (20) is suspended determining two half-spaces (S, D) within the shell (12). At the tapered end, the shell (12) and the central vertical wall (20) are respectively connected to the braiding and the central wire of a coaxial cable (17) supplying radio frequency electric current. At the end opposite to said tapered end, a wiring (19) is disposed through the structure (10) perpendicular to the vertical central wall (20) and rests on a base (11) of dissipating material. In one of the two half-spaces, the wiring (19) is protected by a shield (23) integral with the shell (12).
