摘要： Monitoring apparatus according to the present disclosure is capable of monitoring binary coded communications between a plurality of stations. The apparatus includes receiver means for receiving binary signal and register means for sampling received binary signals in such a manner that they may be stored into memory means. Display means is provided for retrieving and displaying alpha-numeric representations of the binary signals so that the individual characters of the binary coded communications may be displayed on the display read-out. One feature of the monitoring apparatus resides in a parity check apparatus wherein the parity of the binary coded characters may be verified.

摘要： A high speed scanning system and method for scanning a matrix of alarm condition sensing means. A clock-fed counter means and decoder means automatically scan the matrix line by line. When a sensing means which has turned on due to the detection of an alarm condition is sensed the scanning means automatically stops scanning and a readout of the matrix position of the triggered alarm sensing means is provided. The scanning operation may be controlled in either an automatic mode by a central porcessing unit or in a manual mode by switches located on a control panel. The scanning operation may be stopped or started, the counters may be cleared or loaded and the current scanned matrix position may be read out.

摘要： Thermal pollution from industrial manufacturing and electric generation plants is avoided by incorporating in the water cooling system of such plants an underground water storage and heat dissipation space as formed by nuclear explosion. In a preferred embodiment, the system incorporates a wet type water cooling system (primarily because of its lower cost) and one or more nuclear chimneys below the level of the local aquifer or water table so that makeup water for water lost through evaporation in the wet type cooling unit is added by water draining or leaching to the nuclear chimney from the aquifer level.

摘要： A system for determining the bearing of aircraft traveling in formation with respect to a master aircraft leading the formation. The master aircraft has a transmitter located thereon while each craft in formation has at least a pair of spaced-apart receiver means located thereon. If the craft are helicopters, each receiver means of a pair of receiver means is located at the respective end of a rotary blade of the helicopter. If the craft do not have rotary blades the receiver means are stationarily located and successive pairs of receiver means are successively sampled so that with respect to the spaced receiver means the equivalent apparent rotation is achieved. At the time when the signals from the transmitter arrive at both receiver means of a pair of receiver means at the same instant of time it is known that a line from the transmitter to the midpoint of a line connecting the pair of receiver means is perpendicular to the line connecting the pair of receiver means and the bearing is determined.

摘要： There is disclosed a four quadrant multiplier circuit whose output is the bi-polar product of a signed analog voltage and a signed voltage expressed as a digital word. The circuit includes matrix resistors in a bi-polar converter which are switched between the reference voltage and the inverse of the reference voltage. Four quadrant multiplication is accomplished with only one resistor matrix and the use of complementary transistor pairs as bi-polar matrix resistor switches.
